• We have today (22nd April) confirmed the closure of JackArmy.net on 31st May. Our reasons are varied but after a twenty-five year stint at the heart of the online Swansea City community, the time is right for us to bow out. You can read more at the link below https://jackarmy.net/2026/04/22/jackarmy-net-twenty-five-years-and-out/

Sorry to hear this, but half expected it, as you haven't been around much lately, but I'm sure still working in the background.
The 25 years has seen lots of ups and downs but at least this site was a constant where views could be shared,
Hopefully someone might fancy taking it on, but then maybe not, as it does take dedication who knows?

So thanks for everything (from an old poster)

Thanks for all you have done Phil, not just this site but your work with the Trust.
Not sure where the moaners and serial complainers will go now though.
Enjoy you new free time and thanks again

I’ve discussed this at length with Phil, a man I have massive respect for due to the 20odd years I’ve known him and occasionally helped out with the site and through my brief period on the trust. I understand his reasons for this decision given the work he’s put in to this site, the trust and the Swans in general over a quarter of a century. I’ve tried long and hard to get him to change his mind about this as I’m sure he’ll confirm and I’ll continue to try right up until the point it’s too late.

This is and always has been far more than just a Swans forum. I’ve met some banging people through the site. Also struck up some online “friendships” with people I haven’t actually set eyes on in person. It’s helped me get through some of the worst periods of my life and allowed me to share in some of the best periods of with like minded people. I know I’m far from alone in that. This is a community and the world needs more communities like this one. Yeah we have our fallings out but that happens in every community, every family and every group of people.

So, Phil, thanks for the work, the memories and friendship over the years. I respect your decision but I hope you change your mind. And as you know I’ve no intention of stopping tying to change it between now and the end of May.

To the rest of you lunatics, bless you all.

It has been a pleasure, Phil. Forever grateful for your efforts over the years, this site and its various predecessors have provided intrigue, humour, enjoyment, friendship, comfort and many other feelings. It will be missed.

When reading Phil's post I just gave a quick reply and thought about posting more later.

You've just summed up everything that was going through my mind, so at least I don't have to think anymore.

So thanks to you and again a massive thanks to Phil

Just setting up a laptop and going through old stuff on my desktop P.C.

and found this from 23/3/2003

Having yet again read many postings over the last few weeks on our precarious position I would, not for the first time like to say thanks, to the two main non-official sites.

I have visited many of the third division club sites and we really are lucky.

We have two excellent sites in scfc.co.uk and jackarmy.net, each having their own unique style that complements my needs. Both put many professional sites to shame when we remember that they are done as a hobby. (Let’s not forget that fact)

On the one hand we have scfc.co.uk which I will describe as ‘paper style’ with the basis on articles and letters with the addition of statistics etc. Jackarmy.net on the other hand I describe as based on a more immediate interactive site where ‘chat’ is the prime mover again intermingled with statistics. This is not to say that articles do not have their place, as both sites make interesting reading. It is of course inevitable that due to the fact that it is Swansea we are talking about, that certain themes or situations are covered by both sites. Due to the diversity of both sites, even when this happens, I tend not to see duplication, as they are not handled in the same way. (sometimes maybe it should, as it would cut down on the reading time ;-) )

Seriously, when I think back too the non-internet days, I would be tearing my hair out trying to get info on the Swans. Now, not only due I get instant news, but also the thoughts of many Swans fans, and the opportunity, of boring people with my thoughts. Maybe the ‘Exiles’ will understand more than the ‘locals’ what a Godsend this is.

Seven more games to go, this is going to be a very tense time.

So I make no apologies, again, for saying thanks, these sites are worth their weight in gold.

I hope you all agree."

I couldn’t think of a better person to take over the running of the site 👀👀

Thanks for all your efforts Phil, this forum has been the number 1 Swans forum for talk and news, no other will compare. I hope someone can take it over because it will be missed 🙏

Now we know why Darran won't be here next season.
Someone needs to get hold of some compromising photos of Phil. This mustn't be allowed to happen...

Having been a Swans fan for over 65 years and living away from Swansea - for those first 40 I had to rely on the rugby-biased crap that is Weish national media.
Thanks to you this site has been a lifeline of news and views on the Swans for the last 25 years.
Many thanks Phil and I wish you well for the future.
