• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Was that the Yeovil game with the streaker?

Oddly enough, probably my two fav memories were 0-0s.

Away to Birmingham under Roberto where we were so good, they got booed off half time and full time despite being top of the table. Chance after chance but we just couldn't hit a barn door that day.

And Anfield in our first PL season, under Brendan. Similar story. We were so good we got applauded off by their main stand afterwards. Game knows game.

You know you're good when you're drawing reactions like that out of opposition fans.

For me, nothing will beat the promotion game at Preston in 81. It was only my second away game and the whole day was magical.

Other notable.. Sheff Utd in the FA Cup, Bury away, Portsmouth away when Nathan Dyer scored, Liverpool away in the League Cup QF.

Lots of lower league midweek away games getting home at 3am at Carlisle, Boston, Hull, Darlington and York City.

Worst yet best for hostility- Millwall away in 84.

Great overseas games at Malmo, Panathanikos, Sparta Rotterdam, Barcelona B, St Gallen, Den Haag and Raith Rovers 😉

Another memorable game but for very bad reasons was the 4-0 loss at home to Kiddie.
Looking back it acted for the kick up the rear that we needed. JJ Milligan was amazing that night for Kiddie.

That was my one and only game I sat in that new stand. Truly a dreadful performance up there with Fulham away in the 7-0 drubbing

Very difficult to chose but Preston has to be in the running.
First time promotion to the top division.

I can understand Sheff Utd game getting a mention but I suppose it was more down to the company you shared a drink with by the station and car parking 😀

Fulham was bad but then humour took over.

We're going to win 4-3
We're going to win 5-4
Wer're going to win 6-5
We're going to win 7-6
We're going to win 8-7

:ROFLMAO:

I remember Cornforth and Ampadu being on our terrace singing along 😁

I just thought Preston, Forest, Reading, Bradford, Valencia were the ones that go beyond anything else because of their importance. Other treasured memories are more prosaic...a perfect description of poor old Peter Abbott 🤣

Strange how they mind works
Definitely not memorable but over the years.

Travelled to

Home Brentford game off waterlogged pitch
Home Hartlepool game off due to the tragic death of one of their youth players

Away Northampton game off waterlogged pitch
Away York waterlogged pitch

Mansfield away I was in the open end opposite their covered terracing when there was a surge and scattering down there.
Villa fans in there as their game was called off.
Police got them out of the ground, but about 10 mins later things were being thrown into the open end from behind until the police had to move them on again

Oldham away first full season under Roberto. Lost 2-1 but we annihilated them.On the walk back to the Railway Station a number of Oldham supporters told us we would go up as Champions.

They were good judges.
