    Vipotnik - Top Scorer (Championship)

You’d imagine if he hits 20, we can look at 15-20 million in the summer as a fair valuation (if we decide to sell). We hold all the cards this time. He’s a young player with further development ahead, he’s got 2 years left with us and we don’t have to sell him. Don’t think we could be in a...

    Malick Yalcouye

I do think we may regret not involving Yalcouye a bit more than we have done so far. He hasn’t always been brilliant but there are times when he looks like the best player on the pitch and I don’t think there are many players in the Championship that look as good as him when he’s on it...

    Burnley 100 points...

Really good point. Leeds also brought in multiple new players, the side is a lot more physical and it’s helping them compete. Dan James can’t get a start these days.

Was actually one I was hoping we’d look at for RB (if we could afford the wages) always thought he was decent. A difficult time for Wednesday, have to feel for them.

I believe those were actually the only chances they had in those games, according to one of their fans previewing the game on Swans Cast. He also said that they get steamrolled by teams in midfield. If we’re at our best I think we can come through okay, may only be a 1-0 or a 2-1 even.

Looking at some of the stats. Wednesday have a combined 5 shots on target in their last 5 games (if Google is to be believed). You’d like to think we come out of this game with 3 points. I understand all the nerves though. Two ex-players playing against us and the potential that we are going to...

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread - Now Closed!

Was saying this to someone the other day, we don’t usually sign players who have good goal scoring records, even in the Swedish/Dutch leagues. Vipotnik had done well for Maribor and got 10 in France for Bordeaux but we only got him due to their collapse. Feels like a shift from our normal...

It’s nuts, what has happened to them in 5 years. Whatever else we may say or think, you can’t fault the commitment from McElhenney and Reynolds.

What worries me more than spending on transfer fees is the wages. So easy for numbers to get silly, especially when clubs are desperate to sign a player. We know all too well from our PL era, how wages can climb and leave you selling off everything in sight.

I believe so, looking at Wrexham, they probably have some of the biggest revenue numbers in the league and have spent big since making it to the Championship. They were recently linked to Cherif for £12M who also had interest from Palace (I don’t know if Wrexham interest was just paper talk...

Do you think it’s “change the fortunes of club entirely” kind of money?

Yeah, it’s one of those that might work out fine but there’s always that risk in the background. That’s why Bobby Wales going may not be the best move. If the loan is to give him first team minutes ready for next season, why not test him as second striker over this period? I get that he’d just...

I’m not sure about that to be honest, Cullen is always best for us as a midfielder, feel we need someone who is naturally suited to the striker role. A real shame that Idah is injured.

Need to bring in a striker now surely. Not sure Matos sees Cullen as a striker despite saying that he’s an option to play there.

    Matt Grimes (not Jamie)

I was and am a big fan of Grimes. I don’t like how he left us in the mud right at the end of a January window but something obviously went on behind the scenes there. This is probably just bias and social media amplification but I found Cov fans to be a little too smug over his signing for them...

Badly missing Widell, midfield has no structure when pressing, leaving massive gaps. Need to find a solution for second half.

    Snoop interview

Don’t get me wrong, the money is welcome. We always want to feel like the club is capable of moving forward and not being stagnant. We just have to watch that we don’t become too much of a commercial vehicle instead of a football club. Look at Wrexham, you can’t say three words about them...

That would be the worry, although unlike Jacob Wright last year, we’ve been linked to Walta for a while. He must know just how much we want him and hopefully Matos has helped to sell the project to him. We can only cross our fingers.
