• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

    What are Reform policies

That would be an enormous change as current UKRI funding specifically asks for your institution policy and your action to ensure these in applications. I may be retired by any change!

    What are Reform policies

I would be in that position and undoubtedly pay less tax under Reform. I also see how disastrous a Reform government would be to social structures. education and personal freedoms. Thatcher destroyed an awful lot of social structure in the UK in the process of making an individual "I'm alright...

    What are Reform policies

Not concerned by the modern Francoist groups in Spain? Increased presence in Canarias where my mother lives? Still nostalgia for the "generalissimo" amongst some older people.

    What are Reform policies

Indeed. We have lost the need for truth, the need for evidence. Opinion and statements not based in fact (or lies) have become 'truths' amplified by social media. I'm staining my fence and thinking how stating an opinion and saying 'it's common sense' is entirely without an evidence base yet...

    25 Years of match memories

Remember walking back to the car-Oldham fan on the phone 'We were absolutely battered. No love, we won 2-1". My favourite season-watched many games in the north against teams we have not played since (Port Vale, Crewe etc.) and a lot of home games which were bittersweet watching my step dad...

    What are Reform policies

I'm not involved in this rodeo living in Somerset. But do wonder how in 3 or 4 generations has South Wales moved from the place which sent many volunteers to the International Brigade to fight right wing nationalism (or more simple fascism) and housed many (mainly Basque) refugee children...

    Buying glasses online

Yes. Although the quality is lower than my local independent. I get my main pairs (readers/close work and drivers with the reactive lenses) from the local place but usually get a spare for work and a cheap pair for working with animals. Usually have a stash of the cheap Amazon readers in the...

Flynn Downes - Missed Red Card Offence

The one that annoys me (as a microbiologist) is Gram staining. Americans use gram, but it’s a proper noun as Christian Gram developed the test.

Thanks Phil for your work here and with the Trust. The kids for a quid and the fun days with face painting etc. were loved by my daughter. She's 24 now and still comes to the odd game. Will be sorry to see the site go as relatively sane compared to the histrionics on X

Reform deciding the history of Wales in museums

I would imagine that Rebecca, The Merthyr Rising, the Newport Chartists and the Tonypandy Riots will all be ignored. The Ironmasters and Coal Barons who exploited our natural wealth and the people will be held up as heroes of free enterprise. Death and disease from the pit and the metal works...

    Andy Kershaw RIP

Sad to hear the passing of Andy Kershaw at just 66. A man who had many problems in his personal life but a great enthusiast and promoter of music, especially world music. Was a real breath of fresh air to mid-80s Whistle Test as young presenter. His enthusiasm was great-hugely excited...

Overly focused on “risks to” Rudakubana rather than “from him”

Underinvestment is decades long-really goes back to Thatcher and the move to 'care in the community'. Not addressed by Blair/Brown. Fourteen years of austerity far from helping-in fact almost destroying all healthcare systems. Access to CAMHS (child mental health) is typically a two year wait...
