    Alan Sheehan-Manager for Next Season

It's kinda bonkers that in the space of less than two months we've gone from a point where quite a lot of people were dead set against giving even a caretaker job to "The cheap option" or "Watson's mate" to one where some people are getting quite aggy about the prospect of him not getting it...

    Modric - The Athletic Article

Can't say I'm as a hugely enthused about Stuart James as others are. I mean, he got the name of Joe's wrong (probably looked on Google Maps as Sam's Cafe is just around the corner). He tends to swim with the tide. If the fans are positive he'll write a positive article. If they're critical...

    Genuinely Excited

Grimes' 20 passes into the final third would mostly have been back and fore between the wingers. Ticks lots of boxes for the stats geeks. Progressive, completed, final third. Don't actually hurt the opposition though.

Depends who those passes were to and how effective they were. This is the crux of the problem with Grimes. Lots of good numbers, precious little result.

I think we have to consider that as a defined style and the primary reason that we've been so horrible to watch since 2021.

Superb. Your points about the freedom with which Eom is now playing and the references to "cycling the ball to each other endlessly" nicely encapsulate the differences I think. The shackles have come off. Players are allowed to actually play, not limit themselves to some pre-defined tactical...

Grimes going has certainly helped, but the main difference very obviously is the departure of Williams. Much like Russy before him, he was far more concerned with forcing the players he had into his system rather than in playing to their strengths. Good players were made to look average...

Effectively four points adrift with two games to play. Realistically they need two wins and hope that someone else messes up. Still don't count the lucky bastards out, but the odds are well against them now.

It's more the "Fulton hasn't showed up for years" part. We've been here before with other players. I can remember when Kyle Naughton was Public Enemy #1. I can remember Stuart James strongly opining that he was one of the main reasons that we got relegated from the Prem. I guess every squad...

We also shortly brought Cullen on to lead the line and lacked any kind of out ball for nearly half an hour, but of course it's all Fulton's fault. This is exactly the kind of thinking that I'm on about.

Fulton has been fine in most of if not all of the games he's played since Grimes left. Many thought he was a MOTM contender at Leeds. Why people continue to single him out for criticism I don't know. Habit maybe.

    Alan Sheehan-Manager for Next Season

Sheehan has his pride, and will not be short of offers. If we don't want him I certainly wouldn't rule out him taking up a nearby job which he won't even have to move house for and he'll have more financial certainty than he will from us on a one year rolling contract. If we decide he's the guy...

I think we'd have to prove that the Billionaire had no links to club ownership otherwise it would be seen to be a "contrived" income. A bit like the arguments over Etihad paying over the odds to sponsor Man City.

    Aaron Ramsey

Alan Shearer took over Newcastle in a similar position once and managed five points in eight games. Being a respected player is no guarantee of coaching ability, even if you've been around the club a while. Lots of twists and turns yet.

He'll pull a hamstring writing down his first team selection.

Kaplan put up most of the initial money and according to something Levein said once "could easily afford to take the loss". Also, he and Levein own D.C. United between them which is currently valued at around $780m according to Forbes. At the end they were putting around £10-15m a season in to...

PSR means that they can't spend it anyway so it's all a bit pointless. On paper Kaplan was a Billionaire (or close to it) for all the good it did us.

He's already halfway there and we didn't begin to play to his strengths until the end of February. Give him a capable AM behind him and let's just say I'm still optimistic. We will probably sign another striker to replace Yates anyway.
