The FA Cup Fourth Round 23/24 | The Official Match Thread | AFC Bournemouth v Swansea City FC | The Vitality Stadium

Do we think just spending money will help given what we bought in the summer?

So glad we don't have this VAR delay nonsense in the Championship.

    Swans defender set to depart?

He's had a couple of knocks but even when he's been fit and on the bench there's been no appetite to blood him in the Championship. He's versatile, technically strong and decent size about him, no excuse for not being able to utilise him unless someone was determined not to. Not the first...

    Transfer window

He's been no better than Latibeaudiere was on the other side last season. "Really good attacking fullback" oh how our standards have fallen.

    Russell Martin and his/our squad

You should write what you mean rather than expecting people to decode creative re-interpretations of the past. He stayed in the position through the Eustace drama until about two weeks before Martin came in. He didn't want to continue, but not to the point where he would "put himself out of...

    Obafemi

If he can stay fit he'll score plenty for them. Nothing about his performances for us suggested he was below Championship level. Even in and out of the squad his goals per minute rate was nearly as good as Piroe's.

    Russell Martin and his/our squad

He worked most of the summer doing preseason so maybe a few minutes longer. Had completely checked out before the final whistle in the playoffs, but stuck around picking up his (pretty small) pay cheque a few months. Then "gardening leave" rather than the dole.

    Nathaniel MG Cup Final

Just a few comments while I finish off these sour grapes I picked up. Playing the game on a hard plastic pitch massively benefited TNS, who didn't need additional help to look comfortable with the ball. The ref was generally a bit crap (as you'd expect) but the linesmen were waving their flags...

    Gyokeres to Chelsea?

My biggest issue with Tymon (apart from his defending) is how often he cuts infield with the ball when he doesn't have a right foot. Tie him to a rail along the touchline and we might get some mileage out of him like we did Bidwell.

    Brandon Cooper

When they were both 18 stepping up to the u23s I thought the same. Cooper has had some bad injuries since then, and the extra athletic capacity Cabango has makes a big difference (a big reason why Parker has been fast-tracked).

They didn't have him for the season. It was announced as a January loan when he went.

    Brandon Cooper

Surprising given how the end of his loan spell seemed to go, but with his contract running down it makes sense for everyone to sort his future out now. Their fans seem pretty mixed on the news. He's a good L1 defender but the discipline issues (which we never really saw apart from the odd...

    Ogbeta to Peterborough?

Given we bought 3 new left backs in the summer, and have another 2 youngsters on pro contracts, we should probably be looking to move him on asap unless Williams absolutely adores what he's seen of him. Wish him well but between the injuries and the man who signed him being sacked for it, fair...

Joel Cotterill recalled with immediate effect

Beggars can't be choosers. Once Yeovil dropped out of the league and Newport started looking further East for their players our EFL options have become extremely limited. Players have agents trying to find them progression when it's not available here, sometimes that means taking risks.

Joel Cotterill recalled with immediate effect

Was on the fringes. They've been storming the league and according to their fans at the start of the season didn't really need someone in his position. Liam Smith was supposedly going there as well but it broke down on deadline day. Difficult as an unproven youngster to get games when the...

Season 23/24 | The Official Match Thread | Birmingham City v Swansea City | The EFL Championship

I imagine decent short corner routines are going to take time to implement and won't have been priority 1 on week 1. So we mostly just smacked it towards Darling on the back post like before.

Season 23/24 | The Official Match Thread | Birmingham City v Swansea City | The EFL Championship

Gutting for Parker. He was already going to be subbed, one final attempted sprint enough to do it.

Season 23/24 | The Official Match Thread | Birmingham City v Swansea City | The EFL Championship

Hopefully Williams can learn the same lessons about 3 at the back that the last two managers did sharpish. Works in the lower leagues but in the Championship teams can press it all day.

Season 23/24 | The Official Match Thread | Birmingham City v Swansea City | The EFL Championship

I know some people are expecting Williams to be Martin 2.0 but hopefully we won't see a repeat of that "centre half as wing back" nonsense. All our centre halves dawdle on the ball and give it away cheaply trying to pass forward. Part of the problem is the midfield playing it straight back to...
