Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

The specific stats will unlikely bear out this generalisation across four divisions, but while I still maintain referees are no better/ worse overall over the years, it's TV analysis which has majorly skewed criticisms ...and how you improve refs to counter that slow-mo technology, I'm simply...

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

"Routinely shit week in week out" is a total exaggeration.

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

Just being realistic as regards a profession which is in danger of being overly criticised and insulted these days. Without refs we have no game ! I've been watching games since 1968 and overall no better or worse in my opinion. But TV replays highlight the worse is all. It's a thankless job...

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

It's never been any different ...you say they go against us ..we're biased . Works both sides. And our interpretation of "wrong" isn't always correct. Yes there are a few obvious, but often fans don't know a lot of the rules anyway.

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

No technology outside Premier League. Just basic eyesight and split second interpretation, no back up. So make allowances I reckon. VAR is another issue. It's not working properly I agree but the pressure inside that TV screen studio can equally be super intense. So many angles, so many...

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

Good on you for having a go at what is a really difficult job...but a baying biased 15k plus crowd puts the pressure on a hundredfold tbf

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

Refs make hundreds and hundreds of decisions in a match. Far more than anyone else on the pitch. The vast majority are correct. But the law of averages says they are going to make more mistakes than anyone else. And sometimes in a split second there is going to be a major mistake. I'm just...

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

Human nature. Has always been in the game. Nothing new, just more TV analysis. The biggest problem in the future is ..who the f**k will want to be a ref. Over a season mistakes tend to even out. We've benefitted often. My main argument is players make mistakes all the time. They're...

Stop expecting perfection from us - top referee

Yes, but two different debates really. VAR and studio analysis And refs in the middle of the pitch making split second decisions. Under much more pressure often than players. Not many of us could deal with that I reckon.

All players make mistakes. Get basics wrong Why should refs be any different.

    Russell Martin

Tbh, while Martin ruined a large part of my football enjoyment and I'm pleased that the football world is seeing through him, I really think we now need to cut him out of our lives. If there's a way of stopping this thread I'm all for it. If not, then I for one will not click on any more.

    Attendance Announcements

....and thank f***k for that, I've been banging to drop it for years ! Pointless inviting derision from the away fans

    Another gutless performance

Gutless ? FFS. Leicester had quality beyond us. Should have started Galbraith and Inoussa though - Cullen and Eom ineffective sorry. Not fussed though on the back and sideways passing, but Leicester v.well organised also, besides their quality

    Squad

Those two separate teams of a 22 squad, as laid out by the OP at the top of this thread, is really quite a remarkable sight. I'm trying not to get carried away but it's SO refreshing from the past window disasters.

Rebuild, Not Roulette: Swansea’s Summer of Intent

Yes, I agree. I was a bit sceptical of progress from the owners after the first game loss, but still hoping for more by the end of the window. And they have delivered in fairness, and I apologise ! Of course time will tell if the quality will match the quantity, but there is a plan in place...
