What are we really expecting from Matos....

I’ll admit to being one of the people who thought the attacking output would improve if we changed manager and I still think that has been the case but not as much as I initially thought. I was hoping we’d see a bit better from some of our wide players than we have in terms of end product...

    S25/26 | The Official Match Thread | Millwall 2 Swansea 1 | Att: 14,242 | 04/01/26 | The EFL Championship | The Den

When you consider the points we’ve picked up recently, it’s insane that we’re only 17th. A lot of damage done in the first quarter or so of the season and we’re paying for it still. The championship top 6 looks weak to me this season (or at least there are no real heavyweights), it’s bitterly...

Hopefully we put mostly a second string side out against West Brom in the cup. These players could do with the rest. I think we’ve got enough in us to avoid relegation, I just hope we start scoring a few more goals.

I meant more to come up against in fairness. Although, even down here we’ve absolutely outplayed them a few times and they still manage to get something. That game with 2 OGs under Martin should be studied as an incident of divine intervention.

Ah well, they had a hatful of good chances in the first half apparently. Missed 4 big chances going by the stats, can’t grumble if a side has actually created a lot against us. Disappointing but Millwall are a horrible side at The Den. Move on to the cup game.

Hopefully it’s the team selection because that can be easily fixed. I have to say I didn’t like the look of that midfield when the team sheets came out.

I can’t watch the game today so can’t comment with any substance but it’s not sounding good at all. Hopefully we can regroup at halftime. Millwall are decent enough this season but I was not expecting to be battered in the way we appear to have been. We have expended a lot of energy over this...

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

I do think we need a back up striker to cover for Idah but if the only signing we made was Rak Sakyi on loan and we didn’t lose anyone, I’d be happy with that.

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

I don’t think that was reported by a reliable source was it? I didn’t see Tom Coleman (he is an official source for the club despite the doubts) or Vital Swansea saying anything about that, they are the only two I would trust for transfer news based on previous windows. Interesting if we are...

    DOF

I think as well, we’ve had managers in the past who were supposed to be about pressing and working hard (Duff said it I think and Sheehan) but this is the first time since we’ve been relegated for me that we actually look like we’re playing a pressing style of play. I always say, I can get on...

For me, our performances are better than what we saw at the start of this season. Our build up play is smoother and takes less passes, there is no longer a gaping hole in our midfield when the ball gets turned over, Stamenic and Yalcouye have been dropping in deep to pick up the ball so it no...

I thought it was decent when I saw it live but having seen the replay back, yeah he got away with one there.

Enjoyed watching that today. It’s clear we have problems creating chances but we do have an exceptional work rate on and off the ball at the moment. The goal was a prime example of that, it all started with Ronald putting in an excellent challenge, and the finish was incredible from Fulton...

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

He seems like quite a chilled character to be honest, then again, so did Grimes. Certainly from our perspective it’s better to let him play the season out and hit that 20 goal mark, his value will likely near double if that happens.

Hopefully it’ll be a bit of a different game to Matos’s first game in charge, even though we did score 2 in that one. Looking at the fixtures, West Brom haven’t won away since Oct 1st against Norwich. They’re a bit like us, all their goals are up top with their 9 (Heggebø). It may well come down...

The January 2026 Transfer Window Thread

A Coventry account on Twitter was talking about Vipotnik as a potential option for their January window, they haven’t been linked officially yet though. He’s probably hitting 20 this season in the league so makes sense that other clubs are looking, would like to think we’ll play this smart and...

The quality is still missing at vital moments but we controlled that second half and it really should have been 0-2. No complaints. Would like us to score a few more though, we’ve not scored 3 in a league game this season.

Not asking for champagne football like, we just can’t keep inviting pressure by willingly giving the ball up every time.

Not retaining the ball enough here, whenever we win it back, we’re just booting it long. Need to do more with it.

Everybody wants points of course but I’d argue performances are also important, if you can perform well consistently and create good quality chances on a regular basis, then you are going to come by points more often than not. I wouldn’t want us to be trying to nick games 1-0 every week. In away...
