21/22 Swansea City v Millwall FC Official Match Thread

If fitness is the issue why did we play better in the second half than the first half? Is it because we moved the ball quicker and stopped this sideways, backwards passing crap.

Slow signs of improvement I think. I'd be panicking if we were looking adrift at the bottom, but honestly...this league already looks as open and as abject as I can remember.
When Obafemi gets fully match fit I think we'll have a gem on our hands. Ad mentioned by someone, big doubts bout Patterson...Ethan Laird is better than tonight and going a touch more direct we did look somewhat better.
Feel like I've lost a tenner but found 2 fivers.

That was turgid stuff. Have come home and sat in silence at the kitchen table with a cold beer and can only now bring myself to read this thread, BBC, etc.

I wasn't so upbeat after Saturday, yes we stroked some nice passes around but Hull sat back and let us do it. Millwall also didn't offer much tonight and our ability to stroke passes around was not evident. Two home games, zero goals and all this after two weeks of largely uninterrupted time with the squad.

Hamer was my MoM. Nobody else came close.

Am I reading this right?

You think we were better in the second half?

There was a little bit more intent at times in the second half but only in fleeting glimpses. Neither half was a spectacle of football so I don't think we should argue about which half was better.

See above. This ain't worth arguing about.

We were quite poor in the second half I thought, letting Millwall break out of their half, way too many chances. We may have had a few chances ourselves but mainly from long ball hit and hope type stuff. Shit second half and shit referee. We needed to stick to the plan of the first half but try breaking in to a jog now and again instead of walking pace.

I rated Hamer as MoM on the back of his reaction to these chances.

They did get in behind the sides against us in the 2nd half.. Martin needs to rewatch the game and be mindful, better sides on the counter will exploit us quite easily.. it's a shame we haven't been tested quite enough to see how we deal with teams attacking us.. it could be a false dawn these promising performances without the cutting edge.. we're dominating without creating too much, but we can see what he's trying to achieve, it's a shame he didn't have a preseason to work on his best 11.. and it's your boy Grimes who is the one that sticks out like a sore thumb in these last two games, should've sold him, it's either Grimes or Downes, especially at home, if we're away at the likes of Bournemouth, West Brom or Fulham I'd consider starting both, just to keep the score down when it eventually comes to it

martin has got to be prepared to change systems instead of sticking to play 3 at the back.

7 games in!! Russ arrives a week before the season starts. What do people really expect? Shambles the way the whole cooper thing was handled and somebody should of come in a lot sooner.

I honestly think it's a matter of time before something clicks in final third. Obafemi and Piroe together excite me. Yes theres always room for improvement, sometimes I wish our midfield would see that space and run into it but that will come. Im not comparing him to Martinez but I remember the same grumbles back then. Didn't we have a mixed start before going to Orient and sticking five past them?

Patience is key, thought the fans were greatast night.

Exactly... This mess is down to winter and the club.
