Midfielder to join but there is a caveat…

Blimey. Cometh the hour, cometh Fulton! Surely we don’t go in to the second half of the season with Franco, Fulton and Joey?? Please tell me we don’t (and no, Key and Tymon don’t bloody count!!). 🤣

If true it's a disaster. The lad won't fancy dropping down to League One when he plays his first game. Plus, what happens if he gets injured while back on loan?

Right, I’ve Googled and looked at Football Manager ratings, which is essentially all the moneyball twonks do.

Massimo Luongo- currently at Ipswich, has lots of experience of this league with QPR and last season with Ipswich. Getting on a bit but more mobile than Joey, can play in the two man DCM, good character. Ipswich loaded, so a loan with them paying most of his wages.

Go and get him Coleman mun. He might be crap, but that took 5 mins - how hard can it be?

Could be a blessing in disguise if Williams is gone by then and he avoids this toxic atmosphere?

He looks good (on YouTube lol). I’m happy to wait if he is good

as in the recent past we come out of this window poorer in playing strength than we were going into it.
All the promises about target having been sort with preparation well advanced, have all come to nothing.
These players were not in the plans of the club coming into this window and seem more like panic buying.
It seems absolutely insane now that grimes is gone, to buy a player for £2.5 million only for him to miss the most important part of this season. We should invested in a player or players who can influence the team now and waited till we are in league one before splashing the cash
So no Grimes or Darling and, no striker worth his salt in our side, and we get another winger instead.

I can see cardiff going above us on goal diference with weekend and by mid march in the down zone.

all the other sides are buying players to strengthen their sides in the here-and-now

A few weeks back when we were safely ensconced in mid-table and winning the occasional game, I'd have applauded this move. Locking up a presumably talented young player now, meaning he'll be with us all pre-season and not the usual last-minute arrival, seems smart. Stops anyone else getting him or the pursuit dragging on all summer at the cost of him finishing this season at his club. Well-run clubs do this kind of thing regularly.

Given the events of the past weeks however, this will only be a good move if other players arrive in this window to strengthen us given we are currently plunging into a relegation battle. As others have said above, this move won't look anywhere near as smart if we start next season in League One. There may be a cancellation clause if we are relegated I suppose, but then it would just have been a massive waste of time.

Just chatting to some senior members at the club... Widell has been on the radar for some time. Talks have been ongoing since the Grimes news ever came out.

He's been at the top of the list of players the club wants... demand became high so were willing to do whatever it takes to get him.

There's a number of players still on the horizon, including a Grimes replacement... Widell was on the horizon even before the need to replace Grimes.
