The latest rumour is West, Cardiff and East, not necessarily with current branding and another mad insider rumour that 'Cardiff' will be bought by Y11 (current Osprey owners - that's not the mad bit, and be based in a new stadium in Bridgend!!)

Media leaks to come at 2pm and the actual announcement at 3pm.

Whatever happens, it's URC all the way, so Welsh rugby is totally f***ked whatever else they do.

Not unless there's a guarantee of pro rugby there from the WRU, so probably not, as there's a decent stadium in an industrial park shithole 10 miles down the road.

So no Cricket and no Rugby in Swansea. My 12 year old self would be horrified.

To be fair there's no football just now either.

This really is the worst of all worlds.

Staying at four for 3 years will do nothing to deal with the short-term issues in the game. It won't allow budgets to increase at any of the clubs to make them competitive. It isn't going to create a stronger developmental base to the game. It won't release any savings to reinvest in the community game, nor at any level of the women's game.

And yet, with things changing again (down to 3) in 2-3 years' time, it's unlikely external investors are going to want to become involved when there's no certainty that they won't just be throwing money down a well for two years.

Get rid of full time professional rugby in Wales and let our best players find employment wherever they can. Playing in England, France, Ireland or anywhere in the world will give them the high quality experience that they need and make them better players.

Plenty of decent international football teams have virtually no players playing in their domestic leagues. Their players all play in the English, Spanish, Italian, German and French leagues.

I think if the global international calendar (which everyone apart from New Zealand seems behind) this could be a pretty sensible option.

Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s just another consultation (led by the next leaders of the WRU) in 2027/2028 though and it’s all up in the air again,

I’d assume (hope) that if the development doesn’t go ahead then Swansea CC will return there next summer.

No professional rugby or cricket in the city is a very sad state of affairs though.
