The practicalities are indeed horrendous. I didn’t say the extra purchase tax and VAT points were wrong. It just doesn’t outweigh the amount of fuel duty lost and will be lost as take up increases. And there’s a fundamental point about fairness too. Fuel duty costs a lot for everyone who pays it. Electric car drivers don’t pay a penny of it. And then there’s all the sensible arguments around the incentives being eroded while also encouraging EV take up. Tricky decisions. Governing is hard. Glad I don’t have to do it.
Oh I agree they should pay, I was just rehearsing an 'excuse' for their lobby groups.

While we’re at it, they also need to whack Fuel Duty up. It’s been frozen for nearly 15 years now. Ridiculous.

Seems to be the norm for this government, the party of the working people.
And all governments before Smurph, and no doubt in the future. It's worked this way for thousands of years. Take the Roman's, they would basically enslave people to make bread, bricks and anything else, whilst the elite would take everything, let's make no bones about it once they've finished with us, they'll chuck us in the skip, without a thought and wait for the next smuck to come along. It's the way it works, think of us workers as a disposable commodity. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.Anyway back to defrosting the freezer. Have great day matey.👍

Deluded in to thinking a government wouldn't break one of its main manifesto pledges just over a year in power.

Then again I did mention they were just a different shade of blue in the build up to the GE.

Aye, all wolves in sheep's clothing.

Knew you weren't having a dig, apologies if I came across as if that was what I thinking.

Ok. I fundamentally disagree but that’s fine. Where would you find the money to replace the lost fuel duty then?
Stop giving billions away and wasting billions and take it out of that, I agree that those with electric cars should contribute, but on the other hand you got that utter clown Miliband screaming net zero and then wanting to tax those making an effort, when is a tax gonna be levelled at those with solar I wonder it is the next one no doubt.
