Bloody hell! A great player and part of a strong Aussie set up at the time, also a thorn in England’s side on many occasions.

Saw him maul Glamorgan at Abergavenny.Absolutely fabulous player. What a waste.

Good lord! I've only just seen this!
What a shock.
An amazing player on his day.
He used to belt sixes for fun when he had his eye in.
RIP

Ben Stokes recently broke his record for the most sixes in an innings (Symmonds v Glamorgan)

A wonderful maverick of a cricketer, who turned down a Test call up for England for the dream of a baggy green cap of Australia - but a career and life blighted by booze.

RIP

Yes, I did some reading last night concerning his cricket records and off pitch behaviour. Despite his issues he was definitely someone you want in your team rather than in the opposition.

This bothered me more than Warne. I was a big fan of his c.2007 when he was at his peak. Explosive with the bat, a world-class fielder and chipped in with the ball too

The police went out of their way yesterday to stress that they have no reason to suspect drink was involved. Hopefully it was just a tragic accident
