I feel sorry for Steve Bruce, he seems like a nice guy, too nice to be in that job. I watched the highlights on MOTD and was struck by how Shelvey just strolls around the pitch hardly breaking a sweat. He was tracking their winger for the first goal and made no effort to stop the cross coming in. I suppose he doesn't give a flying feck, if I remember rightly from the details when they bought him from us, he's on about five million a year for five years. That contract is coming to an end soon, and not before time from the point of view of Newcastle supporters.

To a man they need to roll their sleeves up, dig in and seriously up their work rate and Shelvey ain't gonna do that. I'm surprised he was picked in their predicament, Bruce must know he's too much of a luxury player by now?
