Attendance next season

Except what we know now, that we didn't know back in 2011, is that we can fill that stadium regularly - and did - when the team was doing well and attractive to watch. In the last 4 years we've been doing badly and been an awful watch. Worst possible combination if you want bums on seats.

In the unlikely event that next season we entrench ourselves in the top 4 early on and stay there (kinda like Sunderland did this season) you watch our crowds start getting near capacity.

Have we done that badly? We've averaged a mid table position, although the lack of real jeopardy or threatening the playoffs hasn't helped. Yes, the entertainment value hasn't been great, but has it been worse than quite a few of our peers? I doubt it.

Clubs that had lower average attendances than us in 2010/11:

Crystal Palace, Burnley, Bristol City, Watford, Millwall and Preston.

Millwall averaged under 12,800 and Preston under 11,800. Preston have had a dismal season just gone and yet still averaged 16,500.

We're bucking the trend of increasing attendances. We need to work out why. The good news is that there's no reason we should be an outlier. We just need to market the club properly.
