The signing of Conor Hourihane in the January transfer window was designed to be a pivotal point in the season for the Swans.  In fairness, that is what it proved to be but possibly not in the way that any of us envisaged back in January when he put pen to paper.  Quite simply, he […]

He was desperate to play, well what fuk stopped you playing here, probably up there with Renato Sanchez as a massive waste of space.

Probably a mixture of him playing poorly and not being utilised correctly by Cooper, but wow, what a letdown.

He was being talked about on Sky and other places as the coup of the season in the Championship. Totally disappeared after a few weeks.

It felt like after he'd been with us a couple of months he realised, or maybe was told, that he wasn't getting a permanent move here. TBF, he wasn't brilliant from the start but he at least chipped in with the odd goal and odd assist. His delivery from set pieces is excellent but you can't carry him just for that. He won't be getting into the Villa team, that's for sure, so he'll be off somewhere else - probably in the championship.

It’s a stark contrast to the season he played when Villa went up. His performance whilst wearing a Swans shirt is as much down to the coaching and tactical set up as it is anything else.

Coaching? At his age? Tactical setup, maybe. But that doesn't explain his lack of effort, poor passing (the number of hospital passes he gave was criminal) and general sh!thousery.

Wouldn’t surprise
Me if he ends up down the road. They love a journey man and he’s tailored made for them with set pieces

The way Hourihans took set pieces on Saturday they'll had to get extra ballbaoys.

Spot on. He should have risen above anything and used his experience to drive the team, instead he walked through games Grimes and Fulton carried him, he was a massive disappointment after the euphoria of him signing for us, he could have put himself right in frame for better things or even a future here, he could have been the difference, but just didn't seem interested.

You can see why Villa are phasing him out i've seen more mobile/fluid subbuteo players.

Hourihane for me was a bold statement of intent at the time, a player who could pick a pass and belt a free kick in from 25 yards every four out of ten ...

Didn't happen for whatever reason.

He'll be back playing in the LOI in 12 months, wasted opportunity.

To be fair he shouldn't have been brought in to fit Cooperball football. He is a ball player and not a midfield physical battler. He clearly didn't fancy the fight and played on the fringers in many games. He will probably end up in the Scottish Prem with someone.
