Judging by his record of 46 games and 2 goals I am guessing that he is more of a sitting midfielder. This move would only make sense if the rumours about Grimes had any legs to them since we currently have Grimes and Smith who can play the holding position

Would definitely mean Grimes would be off, but a cracking player is Bannan

Bannan can make a midfield tick in the way that Grimes doesn't, but we'd need someone to do the dirty work. One thing's for sure - you wouldn't play Grimes and Bannan in the same team. Bannan looked a different class when we played them up there (too good to be playing in that Sheff Wed team), and had a great game when they destroyed Cardiff. Surprised his goal tally is so low though.

Agree there I like him. Grimes is involved constantly with us also. He hardly ever scores either.

Closest thing we would get to a Leon type. Similar physical attributes, ie small low centre of balance, comfortable in small spaces etc. Probably more combative than Leon and slightly less technical, but would be a big yes for me

Surely not a long term option Christ he must be nearly 40 edit 31 but been around a good while

Spoke to my Weds supporting mate. Apparently he's a bit of a highlights reel player, got the ability but shows up one in four games. I suppose that's why he's in league 1 now. I still think he'd be a useful addition to our midfield.

Nice to have a bit of experience now Ayew is gone.

Would be a good signing overall in my eyes.

Looked a class above in both games against us and was frequently
Mentioned as one of, if not the best, midfielder in the champ last year.

If he is to replace grimes for a fraction of the cost and the rest to bring in a proper number 9 or 10 then I’m all for it but then where does that leave Walsh as surely one of smith or Fulton has to play the ball winning role…

Saying that this could be quite tasty

Benda

Naughton cabango Bennett Manning

Bannan Walsh Fulton

Whittaker Piroe Lowe

Hope he gives Whittaker a run. Didn't really give him a sniff last year.

Very talented and looked a player every time I saw him - direct, full of confidence and likes a shot
