He was guest speaker at an industry event at St Kathrines college Oxford 12 years ago. He was very funny and then afterwards joined a little group of us outside and proceded to bum a load of fags and beer off us but it was such a privilege because he was so entertaining regaling us quite merrily with funny anecdotes about the people he had worked with, and he had worked with everybody, from the Python boys to Danny Le Roux, Morecombe and Wise and Tommy Cooper.

I got him a bottle of Becks.. Lovely chap. RIP

We were at the Carers Wales awards in London when my wife won Carer of the Year and he was doing the after dinner thing.
My wife told him a story that her friend from Llanelli had told her that she got completely wrong telling him that her friend had seen him in Llanelli.
He stood there and listened for several minutes and when she’d finished he looked her up and down and said “what the hell are you on about?”
Seriously I thought I was going to choke I was on the floor.

A true comedy writing genius. Was always worth watching and listening to.
RIP sir.
