• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

I wasn't aware of this redevelopment.

Some serious cash and effort gone into this to be fair.👍

They kept the chimneys so people can let of steam if the value if their apartments goes down , but then again most have probably been bought by people who don't live here , will never live in them and can take the hit , Dubai on Thames

From late 2019 until about a year ago (with a pause between March and September 2020 of course), my son and I made about 15 visits to the area in the shadow of BPS as we were involved on the Northern Line extension site at Nine Elms Station so we saw all the changes to the power station building over a 2 year period which was quite fascinating. We also spoke to a number of people who had worked at BPS and had moved on to the Nine Elms Station site. One of the stats they gave us was the the bill just for crane hire at BPS was around £3.5 million!

Not as grand, but I'm really looking forward to this opening...

I was working up there last week and called into the Street Pizza place one of the restaurants surrounding the building under the railway arches.

The young lady serving me asked where in Wales I was from as she was from Shropshire, she told me she was a student artist at UCL. I asked where she was living as she must struggle as a student in London…she said my parents have bought me a flat in the power station, my face must have given me away as she just yeah i know it was really expensive.

Perhaps they are Tory party members who made a killing from a covid contract awarded to them from a friendly cabinet member, :o ;)

Who knows, i never trust people who live on the borders, they jump from side to side as it suits.😂

My lad is stopping up in Croydon with a former workmate this weekend and they went up to Battersea Power station today, he said it was interesting some tidy shops there.

We went to Gordon Ramsey’s Street Pizza one night £16 for all you can eat Pizza, it was full of families and youngsters. No draught beer and they run out of Peroni so not brilliant!

Two of our offspring are paying absurd London rents so a year or so back I looked at Battersea apartment prices to see if it was feasible to work something out if we all chipped in for a deposit.

Even by London standards these were dear. Around a million, I seem to recall.

Dog owners might be interested to learn that dogs are permitted in the shopping precinct, though some shops don't allow dogs inside.
