The owners (whoever they include now!) will be rubbing their hands. And to be fair, they’re not hiding that selling on players is the aim. I don’t mind if it’s used to strengthen the team. If all the income is just used to offset operating losses, we’re stuffed.

That article says we have the option of another year on his contract, so £4m is too low by at least a couple of million.

Wood Darling and Cabango are what we should be building our defence around for the next few years.
While no one is not for sale, £4m is laughably low for an England u-21 player of his age.

I think Wood has the potential to be as good as Mark Guehi and a regular PL starter, we should be looking for big money for him, he has improved markedly over the last season and is very comfortable on the ball.

Not rated by some around me for some reason.

We’ve been lucky enough to have some top talent in that position over the last few years.
I think Nathan will go on to eclipse Rodon and possibly even Guehi.
6’4, lightning quick, great tackler and still improving.
£4m is a joke amount.

£4m is the amount someone bids for a player with his qualities when your scouts have seen something in him and want to get him before he realises his potential and could easily cost a club ten times that amount.

I will say that fair play to Russ persevering with him after a sticky start. Wood did come through in the 2nd half of the season.
Guehi was similar under Coops only came through a bit quicker.

Them or Leeds have to pay at least 5x our asking price for any player. Can’t fucking stand either of them.

Compared to Guehi's comfort on the ball Wood might as well be playing with his laces tied together. That's the big difference between the PL and Championship, it's not enough to be a good defender (as Rodon has found out). Wood only really started to impress after we transitioned into a back four and he could keep things much simpler with the occasional charge forward when space opened up and tapping it to Cabango or Grimes otherwise.

Guehi's close control under pressure was so good he could have played in midfield at this level. Can't picture Wood (or Darling or Cabango) doing the same. Not quick enough with their feet or minds.
