Briton Ferry Town Council Meeting 25th June 2025. The meeting on the whole was informative and covered a number of subjects, surprising to say that the town councillor for Craig y Darren ward asked a question that was in breach of the Equality Act 2010 and racist. The question was " how do we control black people from coming to Briton Ferry? "Will be interesting to see if her vote count increases or decreases, with those views, at next local elections.In their monthly council meeting last night a long standing councillor asked the question “how do we control black people from coming to Briton Ferry?”

This question was put to council from a councillor with many years experience and should have known better. Other councillors objected to the comment and the councillor in question retracted what she had said.
The point to note that a racist comment of this nature was not appropriate in this day and age. Perhaps the councillor in question should consider her position as a town councillor. In any event this matter should be referred to the Ombudsman, the standards committee and ultimately the equality commission.
As stated, the councillor retracted what she had said but never the less made this very inappropriate racist comment.
Abysmal. She should resign. And she should definitely lose the Labour whip.
