• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

With reference to our EV thread discussions earlier, she's confirmed a new mileage tax to be introduced for EVs to compensate for the loss of fuel duty, but I didn't hear any detail on how it is going to be measured.
That's the issue with this lot. All the gear and no idea.

By the time it comes in to place there is a good chance she won't be in position or this government in power

They’re consulting on implementation (launched today) but it’ll be self reported.

I needed a new car and I ordered an EV car on lease for 2 years with delivery due Jan 2026 so when it goes back I can decide what route to go then.
Won't be EV if they are going to make it expensive but I guess an alternative fuel could be available by then or Putin will have struck.

You won’t see alternative fuel by 2028.

EVs will still be cheaper overall from what I have read.

Cheaper to run.. bit of pain charging.. limited range but it's improving. Big liability to fix out of warranty. Probably like you a EV lease will be the only creditable option.

The charging network is improving all the time. These days you can do London and back from Swansea with just the one stop which takes on average about 20 mins to fully charge.

By the time you've visited the toilet and had a coffee it's more or less done.

I meant more like in London where there is limited drive ways to charge at home.

Good to see the range is increasing though.. by the time i switch they may me autonomous 😉 and able to fly 😎

It will still be significantly cheaper to run an EV. As it should be of course.

The rate of change is exactly why you should lease. Transfer all the ownership downsides (resale, repair, thermal runaway fire risk, battery replacement, tech obsolescence). Not the kind of ownership I'd want, but many who have them love them, so live and let live. I might lease a small city one if and when my petrol monster carks it in the next 10 years.

Removing the 2 child benefit cap is ludicrous. Costs of £3 billion + per year. If you can't afford more than 2 kids, don't have them.

Except that the UK is absolutely desperate to increase the birth rate and encourage people to have more kids.

Think this is aimed more at single parents where circumstances have changed. Although if people have 3 kids or more then they need to factor in the worst scenario or fund themselves.

Labour pinning down the Asian vote by appeasing the larger family demographic.

What a fantastically racist post.
