Could be quite healthy should we sell Wood & Yates, on top of a 3M bonus for Piroe if Leeds do the business and also if Whittaker is sold I believe we have a healthy sell on fee for him.

There will be a big hope that Leeds get promoted so we see the Piroe money and might see a sale of Rodon pushed through for a sell on fee.
There will be eyes also on Whittaker and Downes and if they move in with a decent sell on awaiting.

The we get to indoors with moving Wood, Yates and Mykolo on to generate a bit of money to spend.
Moving Pedersen on to then open some wage space.

It's going to be a busy and tough one for sure mainly due to the incompotence of 12 months ago.

Not sure Myko would command any sort of fee due to his inactivity. Would Downes command more than we paid for him?

I'd imagine any budget figure we have going into the summer has a big minus in front of it. And lots of 0s on the end. Shortfall to make up via sales before there's anything left over to spend freely. Will all come down to how much of their own cash the owners are willing to throw away.

How much did we spend, waste last summer?

This is the point. The owners are putting the occasional few million in to stand still. If we could generate some income it just means that they don’t have to put quite as much in.

Think last season proved with so many players not involved throughout the season that we should have been looking at trimming the squad and in doing this would reduce the wage bill a bit.
Ashby, Humphreys, Pedersen, Tjoe a On, Walsh, Ginnelly, Mykolo all players who very rarely played whilst getting a weekly wage and you could also argue the same for Allen and Naughton especially the players we have readily in their position PLUS the fact that we are also actively looking to strengthen central midfield!
I personally think we need to be a bit more streetwise and cut throat when it comes to renewing contracts......suprising that contracts have been given to 2 players when the club harp on about being data led.

Ginnelly ruptured his Achilles, the club can hardly envisage that, no doubt he'll be covered by insurance for such a long term injury.

We currently have one right back at the club who is going to be the number one choice for next season. The signing of Naughton makes complete sense, good cover for Key plus has plenty of experience.

Apart from Matt Grimes, we don't have anyone else in the centre of the park apart from possibly Abdulai, who is untested at this level over 46 games. The same as Naughton, the extending of Allen's contract is invaluable.

The wages for both Naughton and Allen aren't going to break the bank.

I disagree.
I think at Right back we have Key, Parker and Abdullai to cover.
In midfield we have Grimes, Fulton and also Abdullai at present with midfield high on the priority list the next few weeks in the transfer market.
Naughton and Allen are going to be on a combined 10k a week minimum! Over 500k a year!
If Naughton wasn't a long termer and Allen a local boy who did good and returned then it would certainly be a very good discussion if they would have been offered new terms.

I just don't think we are in such a luxurious position to have "older heads around the squad" given our diminishing finances.

Signing on fees, transfer fees, wages for cover at right back and the centre of the park would empty the coffers a lot more than extending the contracts of Naughton and Allen.

Pending on where you are looking but certainly not a given.

This is where our scouting network need to be on their game and a solid plan at hand.

There will be plenty of young players out of contract this summer who would jump at the chance to get their foot into the English league........we just need our scouts working hard and relentless to give us that chance.

Why waste money on players who've been released by their previous clubs when you have two ready made excellent professionals already on the books.

The club has wasted more than enough money on signings that haven't worked out. The priority is spending the money on areas of the squad where we're lacking first team regulars.

Totally agree. If we only sign 3 players who turn out to be starting 11 core players, I’d be happy (and amazed)

We need more Ronald type signings, not free transfer like Walsh and Paterson.

Would much prefer that any money invested is spent on players ready to make an impact in the first team. As cover utilise the younger players along with Allen and Naughton.
