Am I the only one that thinks Cabango is massively overrated?
Don’t get me wrong he’s a decent player but some make him out to be the love child of Franz Beckenbauer and Bobby Moore and I don’t see it.

He lives around the corner from me Dar, his girlfriend is lovely.

He's a very capable centre back but is going backwards at a rate of knots under this comedian of a manager. Being asked to play with a different CB partner, different full back combinations and in different formations from game to game and even during games can't be doing him any good at all.

He's not a very good footballer Dar, he makes blocks, tackles and headers and he's average at that job description, but the fact Russ wants him to play like Joe Gomez and Van Dijk who are exceptional football players and probably even better defenders is the problem.. Wood and Darling are exactly the same, and we've got this weird cult that think Darling has potential, but he's so average and makes more mistakes than Cabango and Wood, and add in Fisher who I wouldn't trust with the bibs, never mind his kamikaze passes into midfield.. we've also got fullbacks who belong in the lower divisions and hey presto, we're in the bottom 3 for goals conceded column, absolute shambles we are, predictable, easy to play against, weak, and to top it off, we collapse in the dying embers of games every f*cking time, before every game you know what's going to happen but you just hope it doesn't, but it will, Blackpool battered us with 10 men, bottom of the table

I can’t argue with that.

Gone downhill after what was a promising start under Russ. Confidence just rock bottom when he’s on the ball now.

I find watching him and Wood decent comedy now. They get the ball, puff their chests out, start striding forward looking to make a killer pass, then shit themselves, turn backwards and scuff it to anybody in panic. Sometimes, to make matters worse, they do provide a killer pass and we're a goal down.

Ben could be a decent player at this level, partnered with the right player in the right formation and asked to play within his skillset.

It's horses for courses. I think back to that home game against Blackburn last season, I think we had a player sent off (Manning?) when we were 1-0 up and Blackburn battered us for the last 1/2 hour and Cabango and Bennett repelled every ball into the box and were also too strong physically to allow any attacker to get past them and earned us the 3 points that day. They were superb and that is what Ben does best because he's an old skool stopper centre half. Him and Guehi did the same against Barnsley to get us into the playoff final the season before. I also think back to last season's game v Fulham where Mitrovic scored a hattrick because he was being marked by Naughton while Ben was being shredded by their speedy winger out on the right touchline instead of having a physical battle in the middle against Mitro. What Ben needs is a manager who can see what his attributes are and use them not give him several different roles that are outside his skill set. And that doesn't just apply to Cabango, it's one of the basics of management.

Excellent points raised.
Martin clearly makes players uneasy ,awkward and you can see them panic. Cabango is part of an international squad but looks park standard under Martin. He has not the ability to play away from the position he is most comfortable where he is adequate .It sickens me to see young players being ruined.Martin is doing this to Whittaker who seems the target of his vindictive nature and that is what we are seeing . It is never him and always the player.
We suffer from not having enough experienced pros who would not stand for this. I think Joe Allen is simply winding down to retirement earlier than we think. He looks shot to pieces but at least he was a player which Grimes will never be.

He's what we used to call a defender.
Not a modern day ''Defender'' though.
I suspect his value when coached by Cooper has gone down dramatically now.
But then he was playing alongside Guehi not Wood.
