When you are already in the ground, what is all that about?

They started doing it last year, bit i noticed today the young girl stweard was pretty much asking everyone who tried walking up the steps to the upper tier to see their ticket. I politely declined, but there were a number of people who told her in no uncertain terms to go away.

Why are they doing this? Do they think people are abseiling down from the roof or something?

The searching started last season against Birmingham, and when i asked the steward what all this searching is about, he just shrugged and said "It's Birmingham innit".
