Lidl wins legal battle to open first ever in-store pub in Northern Ireland

Residents of Dundonald, near Belfast, will soon be able to pop to Lidl for a pint after a High Court in Northern Ireland approved plans for a pub at the supermarket.

Has to be a bad idea as many people drive to a supermarket and it encourages drink driving.

Would it actually be worth it, I mean pubs are closing at a rate of knots as it is, I guess they've done their homework as to whether or not it's worth it in that location. Hope it doesn't catch on to be honest.

Working in retail myself in a local Supermarket chain , we have enough problems as it is with some customers .

Add drink into the melting pot , it will all end with drunk customers giving more hassle to many .

Bin the idea asap for me , do not want to get involved with a peed up person too drunk to stand .

Do not get paid enough for aggresive confrontation .

I used to frequent a Waitrose in Worcester. It had a wine bar and a cocktail bar. Never saw any bother.

Do your weekly or daily shop but need a drink to get you round the aisles or a relaxing afterthought after a stressful time pushing a trolley about for an hour .

Maybe Tim Martin will see a opportunity for a franchise opening .

No way would I ever as a colleague be on a rota to serve behind a bar , new staff for that role .
