Piroe and Downes cost £2.5m combined didn't they? So it is technically possible, but puts incredible pressure on the club to make the right transfer decision every time as there is no margin for error.

It all feels a little grim right now without a pot to piss in and with a manager whose 'process' has hardly been convincing so far...

Not sure why people are grizzling about the amount of money available, t's been proven time and time again, that throwing money at a team doesn't guarantee a thing (other than getting deeper in debt). People seem to forget that we got to the top by buying cheap players, cast offs, waifs and strays, but they fitted into the way the managers were building their teams. The premier league ruined big numbers of our fans who just want us to spend send spend.

Not going to get any argument from me on that. There's plenty of our fans who would riot if we spent peanuts on a Spanish third division right back these days.
