I do worry about how content Cooper is here, who can blame him at the moment either. Look at our squad

Benda/Woodman
Roberts/Naughton - Cabango - Rodon - Guehi - Bidwell/John
Smith/Fulton - Grimes/Byers
Gibbs-White/Dhanda
Ayew/Routledge - Lowe/Gyokeres/Garrick

Leaves out Cullen but includes John who is obviously surplus. It is a very weak squad overall, strong first eleven but back up non existent. 20 players in total

It’s an excellent first eleven at this level. Darren needs to get banned from Twatter again. :)

What have I done?

Cooper is acting a bit like a toddler who ignores a toy then kicks off when someone else wants it.

He's made it extremely plain over the last eighteen months that he's not got any use for Peterson. Protestations now that he wanted him in the squad don't hold a lot of value.

That may be true. But surely even the edgy critics can see that getting a text off the CEO on the morning of a game telling him not to use a player cos he might be flogged isn’t a good way to run a football club.

Exactly.

Well said. This isn't about the player, it's about the practice

Cooper is a coach and has already accepted a hands off approach on recruitment - but when the last minute decisions start affecting his preparation and planning then they're beginning to encrouch on his territory and he's rightly fired a warning shot over it

I'd be gutted if he's left because the yanks wanted a poxy 400K.

Whether he planned to use Peterson or not, being informed via text the morning of a game is not really on.

Even if he didn't rate Peterson, our squad is so small at present he didn't have much choice. As others have said, we have a decent first 11 but very little back up to see us through a congested Championship season as things stand.

Completely agree that finding out via text isn't the best way to do it especially if it was as simple as the manager said it was

However what was clear last night is we have quite a lot of people waiting for Cooper to fail and were prepared to jump on the back of a Twitter attention seeker with 600 followers claiming he was reliable...

And that was before he had his public twitter meltdown that went from

1. Being hacked
2. Giving a password to a friend
3. Being a wind up merchant all alone
4. Deleting the evidence of 1-3 above
5. Deleting the account
6. Coming back with another name

I wouldnt class myself as a huge Cooper fan but play offs last season and currently 4th this isn't really something that can be argued with

Or does Cooper have the same squad that Jackett had in league two (you know the one that "anybody could get us promoted with")

I feel like lines have been drawn and some people are now looking for sticks to beat Cooper with because it suits the narrative they've established

But 1 loss in 9 league games and 6 wins. I believe that's automatic promotion form. I see the odd sign that he's starting to learn from mistakes and has a willingness to adapt. I'll take that from a rookie manager... We may very well go on an awful run of form and my opinion may change, but I'm trying to rate him on the here and now (and not dwell on last seasons frustrations) and on that basis I think he's doing a very good job.

People just believe everything they read on twitter. He's got some things right, as anybody trying would do, as he's jumped on the back of what other people have reported.

His twitter accounts back, but he's deleted a lot of his old tweets from what I can see, where his guess work was wrong. From memory he said we'd bid £1 million for Nathaniel Phillips and he also said we'd agreed an option to buy for Gyokeres a month ago which wasn't true.

In future if someone isn't verified, it's definitely worth checking that they work for who they say they do with a google search, he never worked for the Athletic he was just on a wind up and hooked in a lot more people than he should have done.

Trundle tweeted saying Coopers here to stay so we'll see.

There are signs that we are starting to play well again, our defence has improved . Our new SC signings all look capable and have improved the squad, our loan deals have been astute and have also improved the squad, why would fans want to get rid of our manager I really would like to know some valid reasons. Replacing a manager without funds which we obviously haven't got, mind you no one else will soon enough the way things are going is a gamble which nobody could back up. So I for one will offer support and backing.

Possibly gone to the press about the Petterson deal in fear of a bigger out going between now and the close of the window?

He went public about needing players last week, this story this weekend..... Get prepared for a possible departure and this story to resurface possibly.

Except Birch stated players would coming in would have to be approved by Steve Cooper.
Have we recruited any players Cooper didn't want? Lowe, Smith and possibly Gyökeres as they are ones he and Scott had no contact with in previous jobs.
The thing is he said he was asked, if so he could have refused.
IMO Cooper has a history of moaning publicly when things don't go his way.
