People keep saying Cooper overachieved wigh the squad we had…

But I’ll say it again… Cooper underachieved with the players he had at his disposal over his 2 years with us.

Woodman, Guehi, Rodon, Roberts, Gallagher, Celina, Brewster, Baston, Ayew, Gyokeres.

We had quality all over the pitch… but any flair and talent was beat out of them by an absolute fraud.

Well he can't really be an overachiever (for 2 seasons) and a fraud can he? Bit of an oxymoron that.

A lot of the successful loan players you've listed there arrived because of Cooper.

I think the article title is meant to be underachieving considering the content of the post :)

Gyorkes! Kinell he was rubbish for us and majority of fans said it!

Tbh I've moved on from Cooper's tenure now...but in fairness you could argue pretty strongly that the reason we had Woodman, Guehi, Gallagher and Brewster was a direct result of having Cooper at the helm.

I'm not arguing that other managers could have done better with that squad, but Cooper is probably the reason that we had that squad in the first place.

0-1 to Millwall so far

From bbc.
Forest's honeymoon period under Steve Cooper might not even get beyond the reception at this rate.

Walked around the stadium before the game banging his chest.

Mmm think we have seen that before 🤔

The king is dead, long live the king.

He got us into successive play off scenarios, he should be applauded for that, despite the attractiveness of the performances. I would take that and four football over mid table safety and meaningless possession football.

Now it’s all about #MartinBall; focus on that instead (which is hopefully not going to turn out as meaningless possession football).

Should have had us Top 2 with the squad he had.

The squad this season is better than last season so by your logic we are also going up.

Can't agree with that. We've lost one of the best overall players in the division in Ayew, one of the better defenders in the division in Guehi, seems like we've downgraded at keeper, sold our only other player who scored a decent amount of goals in Lowe, plus a fine player in Roberts.

Early returns on Piroe, Ntcham, Laird and Downes look good, but way too early to say it's a better squad than last season. Pretty much all our new signings/loans will have to be massive successes to make this a better squad.

Not that I agree with this 'Cooper underachieved' narrative mind. I think given his limitations as a manager, he did the best he could with us. Could another manager have done more? Maybe, but we'll never know, so why bother debating it? Just like I think we'd be worse off now with Cooper than we are with Martin, but I can't prove that, it's just my reading of the situation.

It’s going to play out over the season and I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes. However on paper and all things considered I think we are better off, both in terms of overall quality and balance.
