Cooper speaks to Palace

Sol Campbell... No Words

I counted four.

Lampard and Rooney started their managerial careers in the Championship so why not give Sol a chance. Just because he briefly managed in L2 doesn't make him L2 standard, but of course it won't happen.

Did he not do very badly when in charge of Southend? Personally I would be very anti employing English defenders given our own record with them as a manager and the fact that many would like to move away to from the cowardly anti-football they seem to universally want to practice.

I'd take Saul Goodman over Sol Campbell.

I’d take Naomi Campbell over Sol Campbell. I’d take a tin of Campbell’s soup over Sol Campbell. Hell, I’d take Steve Cooper over Sol Campbell.

To be fair to Glyn though, it is tough to identify a manager. It’s always Russian roulette. Who would have picked Brodge. Not even Jenkins until he got to the bottom of his shortlist.

And Glyn, his anti football is based on cowardice, he is a fraud as this wasn’t what he sold the panel to get the job. It’s not abuse, it is a cap that fits him well based on his two years with us. In my view he blew the best two chances of promotion we might have for a long long time because…

Ok, if you don’t like cowardly fraud, let me reconsider. Maybe a bit harsh. How about fraudulent coward?

You’d be crazy to appoint Sol Campbell to a Championship post. To be fair to him he’s had two jobs and both with absolute basket case clubs at the time. He saved one but not the other. Maybe he deserves a chance at a mid table League 2 club for a fairer assessment?

I remain convinced that Cooper will be relieved of his duties at the Liberty some time shortly before Christmas.

Lampard will do well to find another decent gig too...

I dunno. He hasn't disgraced himself in any job yet. Did well enough at Derby and plenty of managers have been used up under Abramovich. He'll get another job soon, although he may have to drop down to the Championship to get it. Wonder if he's still got a flat in the Meridian Tower?

Lampard would be my ideal choice, but not sure if thats wishful thinking, maybe he has a soft spot for us after that... hard to justify the word stint... but stint with us, we have a good academy set up with some good young players around the squad, add in a few more chelsea youngsters (maybe guehi back again?) and i think wed be near the play offs again

Im not 100% against keeping Cooper, our 2 big wins i think around January we played well and were exciting, but I feel like, the same as Clement who just utilized Sigurdsson and Llorente to great effect, without Ayew we'll get smashed most games with the same style of play

I'd still like to see Rangel, with a possible Tate/Leon combo. What he lacks in experience and contacts can be made up by leading by example, commanding respect and familiarity with how "we" like to play. I imagine he'd suit their budget too. I'd happily stay at this level as long as we try passing it about - another season with Cooper, much as I respect what he has achieved, fills me with, erm, a vacuum.

Rangel would be nice but think theres an interview somewhere of him saying he doesn't like the owners and thinks he'd rather be a coach than a manager

No. If Cooper goes we need a young manager who's had a bit of success working with young players in the lower leagues.

The thing about being happy with decent football is fine, in theory. The reality would be if we were mid table playing broadly well, but losing games due to goalkeeper, defender errors, and attackers missing chances, our fans would be all over the individuals concerned.

Unfortunately for Frank, the job Tuchel did with the same players after taking over showed just how out of his depth Lampard was.

I don't blame him, he must have felt like if he didn't take the Chelsea job at the time then he wouldn't ever get another chance, but it was obviously way too soon for him.

I certainly wouldn't object to him at the Swans, although I don't want us to become Frank Lampard's Swansea City...

Or from other European leagues. Must be lots of promise there - Championship a good gateway to the PL for an aspiring head coach/manager.

For sure. He's a bright enough guy. He'll get another chance if he wants one.

Yep. Cooper is probably as capable as anyone of setting up the player resources at his disposal to play entertaining, attacking and enjoyable football. We just wouldn’t be as ‘successful’

The number of articles I see on newsnow saying about Swans fans must be ecstatic that it seems that Palace are turning their attention away from Cooper makes me laugh. There were times in January when we were a delight to watch, but for every great performance we had there were four or five soul numbing games where we just seemed to have zero ambition to attack.

That cannot come from what is mostly the same squad that was so exciting under Potter without it being coached into them and for them to be instructed to play that way. The catalyst for our super defensive mentality seemed to be the 5-1 hammering against Huddersfield when literally everything they hit flew into the top corner and we got smashed even when we didn't do a whole lot wrong. That seemed to leave a fear in us that we never banished for the remainder of the season.

The new recruitment team seem to have focused on players with long term value and potential, but the question really has to be if Cooper can get a tune out of the squad to realise that resale value. I am still not convinced that he is the right man for that approach, I would still be more than happy for someone else to come in and for us to get good compensation for Cooper and for us to bring in another young and hungry manager.

A delight? Remind me. The smash, grab and defend for your lives against Norwich? The 50 minutes against Watford? The win at a terrible 10 man Cardiff (that was a good display, but only a delight because of the opposition). I haven’t seen much delightful football in two seasons if I’m honest. And that’s not because I have an ‘agenda’ against Cooper, it’s what’s given me an ‘agenda’ against Cooper.

Our best display was against Millwall away, followed by Wednesday away. And then he changed it back to his negative bullshit.

As for, he could play attacking football from Airedale. Evidence? He has no interest in it. Anti football badgeman. I have two seasons evidence.
