Maybe I've somehow been sheltered from these things in my life but I have never experienced any anti-semitic remarks or behaviour; same with anti-protestant or anti-catholic stuff. I don't think it's a Welsh thing to do.
I don't think Corbyn is anti-semitic- I'm sure he is anti Israel but I don't think he has any prejudice against Jewish people pre se.
His failure to deal with this issue when leader was due to his inability to manage and lead, and give it appropriate importance -not due to his perceived anti semitic views. He became leader after being a renegade, rebel, loner of an MP, not being an integral part of the PLP. He became leader without having any experience of having managed or led anything of significance. This got shown up with the way he handled the anti-semitism issue, the way he played dead in the 2016 Brexit campaign and the way he handled opposition to Brexit in the 2017-2019 period, shying away from any liaison with other opposition parties. Then there was the sitting on the fence regarding Brexit in the 2019 general election.
I was comfortable with the 2019 Labour manifesto although I was personally against the re-nationalisation of utilities due to the cost and its relative immateriality in the overall scheme of things. But unfortunately, in my view, his past leadership performance and continued leadership in the 2019 election cost labour victory.
On balance, I think the NEC were correct (just) to reinstate him because I don't think he is intrinsically anti-semitic. But I also agree with Starmer's actions in not reinstating him as an MP because he was negligent in a manner in which he managed the issue when leader and acerbated the problem by mismanaging it.
Although many will point, justifiably, to his association with some dubious individuals in the past, I also think he's what I call a good bloke with good principles and I trust him not to lie to me. But he didn't have that gravitas, didn't have those leadership, management and inspirational skills to be chosen to be PM. He had two chances and failed.
I'd like him now to just go quietly into whatever comes his way and just let go of any further action against the party or Starmer. He might like to harm Starmer's position ( yeah, I know, goes against my "good bloke" statement)but the collateral damage will be another Tory government. A different person would just merge into the background for the sake of a Tory defeat in the next election. And McCluskey can go away too.
