• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Given Obafemi didnt really start scoring until January how many times have we had two potential 20+goal scorers in the same time in the past?

At this level you'd probably have to go back to the James/Curtis/Charles era.

Otherwise, Michu & Bony could probably both have come close if Laudrup had given them the chance.

I'm also intrigued by the stats coming through - I thought Piroe had now scored 20 in the league?

Either way though it shows how few 20 goal a season strikers there actually are in this division

The last time we had 2 X 20+ goalscorers (and reached that level) in this division was the 1955/56 season.

Harry Griffiths and Terry Medwin both scored 22 league goals that season.

Its taken Joel a little bit of time to grow into a right inside forward role but it says a lot about him how he has been able to adapt to it as quickly as he has. When I watched the game on Monday it had Reading commentary and the commentators could not stop purring about Piroe the entire game.

Interesting that Gyokeres has got 15 & Cooper didn't rate him at all

If I recall correctly when Coventry were flying it had a lot to do with a purple patch of scoring form for Gyokores. He scored a lot in his first 20 or so games but the goals had dried up somewhat after that

He never had a run of games with us to judge him properly really

Agreed and the football we played under Cooper was never suited to his strengths anyway.
An all consuming emphasis on shape shape shape relying on a couple of individual talents to turn games.
