United fans really don't like him do they? Bring him back on a season loan.

Lost form and confidence

Probably end up at Leeds sooner or later

Looks way out of his depth.

Was never going to be a top 4 player

I'm not in full agreement with your comment. At the age at which he moved he probably has an equal chance of making it or breaking it at top 4 level. The biggest influence on his career right now is the coaching regime and Man Utd can hardly be seen as getting this right (based on on field performances at least). He needs to keep his head down, maintain the hard work and accept that the upwards trajectory will not be a smooth linear line.

He still young enough, keep improving his end game and he will come good. He's more suited to a Liverpool higher tempo type style than United. United move the ball top slow at times, similar to us.

James had a decent season at United - as good as many other players (e.g. Martial at the same age) but not up to their unrealistic expectations.
As with us (under 18 - seniors) James has the pace to give himself excellent goal scoring or goal making positions but then doesn't.

If they played him in the right position it would be something. His stats when playing left side stand up to scrutiny but they have rarely played him there since his first couple of months in the team as Rashford plays there. He should play left side or not play at all.

His entire game is based on sprinting into large, open spaces and occasionally actually finding a teammate with a cross or pass once he finishes his dribble.

That simply won't be enough when playing for a team like Manchester United or other top four teams, where opposition teams almost always set up extremely compact, deep and with very little space to run into.

He was extremely over rated thanks to a very short run of games with us where he produced a few of these excellent dribbles against two sides who were pushing great numbers forward, leaving him the required space to do what he does best.

Perhaps he'll do well at a bottom half side whose opponents won't set up so defensively each week.

He's certainly not good enough to warrant a start or even a place on the bench at a top four side. If he had never played for Swansea and was not subject to the usual bias, everyone else here would think the same.

Clearly a disastrous signing by your team.

Good Post, last night he came on with mins left had the outside open with FB running on fumes cut back into traffic. Sealed his fete there and then, mind you Solskjær looks out of his depth as well to be fair.

Mason Greenwood has blocked his progress.. far more effective than James with a shed full of goals too.

Correct comments about teams sitting deep negates James pace and also his final ball isn't great either

I was amazed when United signed him from us, to be honest. Not sure they would have if he wasn’t British...they were looking to recreate the class of 92 to some degree, weren’t they?

Dan will end up at an Everton/Leicester sort of club. Wouldn’t be surprised if Brendan showed some interest actually.

Obvioulsy the scouting/talent accquisition personnel at Man U are not top 4 either ......why else sign a player who doesnt fit in or not good enough
