ASOS are only thinking of taking some of the brands, I think a Chinese company called Shein are also interested, but looks like it'll all go on line.Mrs J2J works for Arcadia, she reckons she'll be out of a job within the week, along with 13000 others, not looking good. Debenhams gone online, another 12000 jobs down the shitter

Really sorry to hear that A. I hope she's ok and finds something she likes. Awful times for retail now, or any business caught in the crossfire.
Thanks for your best wishes M.
Hospitality and Retail on the High Street, has taken a right pasting, already 100's of thousands of jobs gone. The only glimmer of hope may rest with DP sports atm, so fingers crossed for all affected, theres a lot resting on any potential deal.

Primark and also Next have walked away from any deal,so not going to happen, just saying.

Fair comment just seemed to me as if they would be a likely front runner

Difficult to see anyone else wanting it although when we are back in the Premier League it could be a Swansea City megastore
Primark would have been ideal, as they could have sold all the brands in store and now online.

Extend the bus station ?

I know you were joking, but it's true that no-one is going to buy it. Just board it up and leave it to decay.

Perhaps the Landlords could think out of the box and use the space for some leisure purpose - maybe the fabled unicorn of an ice rink that will attract people in to the centre and would compliment the other developments being built in SA1. Maybe Tesco could actually move across the road and free up that land? Hopefully those who have seen their jobs disappear would benefit.

Primark are dead set on not having an online presence. It’s somewhat surprising in the light of COVID.

Primark want footfall and presence. The stuff they sell is dirt cheap.
The costs of going online and finding couriers would eat into their vast profit margins.
But you'd think they'd have done so in this pandemic era.

Covid won't last forever though, by not being online they force customers into the stores
Buying clothes from a store is better imo, you can try them on, buying online might save a few quid , maybe primark will have renewed interest if Jones Lang LaSalle lower the rent

You only need to see the queues to get in when lockdown lifts to realise there's still a huge demand for their physical presence. And the returns process alone of online clothes shopping must cost a fortune to operate. It's probably a case of why fix what isn't broke?

Then you have the problem of who steps into the current Primark building. It's very big too and over 3 floors

More apartments and flats maybe?

I wouldn't be surprised to see the building knocked down and something else built. It's a detached building right? With a road between it and the back of the buildings on Oxford Street?

Nice space there for a new indoor arena venue...

You are correct, in as much as they do have a web site but you can only browse items and buy gift cards, whether this will change in time, who knows.

Looks like Topshop and Topman are about to close on the High street too.

That is a shame. However I always found their stuff well over priced and not the best of quality.
