• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

8 mil on a striker?!
In fairness its in the upper range but not outlandish by todays standards in the Championship

We have spent 5.5m on a winger
Two years ago Leeds paid us 12m as a minimum fee for PiroeI

Is it a gamble? Absolutely when they havent sold anybody for big money to finance it

That is a bold move for a 24 year old who hasn't played outside of the States and doesn't even have that good of a goal scoring record in the MLS. Especially given the relative lack of success other imports from MLS have had in this league.

Still, Piroe hardly looked like a canny investment when we signed him and that worked out alright, so who knows?

You could argue that Dutch strikers have a relatively good ratio of hits vs misses when it comes to English football
For every few strikers who fail to make an impact here there is a Bony or Piroe, enough that clubs will still take a punt on players from that league

Outside of Landon Donovan I struggle to think of a striker who made an impact coming from the MLS to the EFL or PL
