• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Did you know that in 2025 a 69 year-old man named Mr Thomas from Neath set out to perform an eyebrow-raising feat for a shot at immortalising his name in the famed Guinness Book of Records.
His audacious goal?
To drink 20 pints, nearly 11 litres, of Guinness beer in one sitting!

Many years ago, I was attending a training course in the Warrington area. One evening I got talking to a guy from our Leeds office who was a big amateur rugby league player. We got onto the subject of drinking beer when he told me that on a Saturday night at his club after a game he would routinely drink 16 pints of beer. I was gobsmacked and asked him why he did that. His response was "first gallon to blow the dust off, second to enjoy"

To join ‘Dregs’ engineers society at Leeds University you had to drink 8 pints of Tetley in the afternoon and 8 in the evening. I know…pints of tea? That’s what I thought until we got to the pub (the Pack Horse, for anyone that knows Leeds, if it’s still there). I did the 8 pints in the afternoon and two in the evening before retiring hurt. A man’s got to know his limitations.

Cyril M was 8 stone soaking wet, would drink 10-12 pints every weeknight then more on the weekend. He was always banned from at least half the pubs at any given time.

I'm guessing that's ever so slightly over the recommended 14 units per week?

With my prostate I swear I piss two pints for every one I drink.

Just for the purposes of clarification, the 69 year old Mr Thomas in the OP is not me.

As much as I love Guinness, two pints is enough these days.
