Dire Straits

They're one of many bands who have done quite a few songs I really like among a lot of album fillers. I think the song (not the album) 'Brothers in Arms' and the sentiments behind it, is excellent and it has been covered many times but I've heard a couple which I think are better than the original.

Weren't they basically Marc Knopfler with some good musicians. Saw them twice on the Brothers in Arms tour, Birmingham was indeed dire but 6 weeks later Deeside was excellent, possibly because it was a standing gig. Terry Williams on drums.

I preferred the song live when they added piano and saxophone from around the 7 minute mark on this.

A couple of the band members out of earshot of MK, would sarcastically call themselves "The Mark Knopfler Band"
