We are a fickle bunch us supporters aye. When we are winning it's great, when we lose its shite. I'm on the fence with this one, albeit I've moaned like f*** at Martin for his sheer pig headedness, and lack of nouse. It all comes down to the aspirations of the club, and how much money our current owners are prepared to give. We'd all like to be back in the Prem smashing the likes of Chelsea et all. Then reality hits home, what can we do, apart from get behind the lads who kick around the pigs bladder every weekend. The grass isn't always greener etc. Shite answer, but it's all I've got.

I don’t see it as fickle or moaning myself, when you go 3 wins in 23 games or whatever it was you’ve got every right to be unhappy.

That’s the way football supporting has always been hasn’t it?

So what? We've spent more pounds and achieved less. Their managers must be world beaters.

I don't believe we are bottom 8 spenders, but lets assume we are. Again, so what? Do Brentford spend more than Leeds? Brighton more than Everton? Last time we went up how much did we spend? Where did we sit in the 'spenders league' then?

We are better than mid table, yet under Martin we are mid table. It's just excuses and dissembling to support a very ordinary managerial performance. Very Ordinary.

We all wish he was a brilliant manager. Evidence so far, he's not. He's underperforming.

My post offers no opinion on Martin's ability, so you could say it shouldn't be on this thread!!
Your opening sentence is almost the opposite of what has happened. We've spent less, and achieved less.

The original point that I responded to was that we have made a large net profit on player transfers during Martin's time in charge. Only a handful of clubs in the championship have received more over this period.
Also we have shipped out more players than we have brought in - permanent transfers, that is.
We are already being prepared for Piroe's departure!!

We're 10th in net transfer profit over Martin's time in charge (out of 30 teams), and 10th for expenditure which is kind of crazy given most of the teams above us in that regard were promoted/relegated and have had PL money in their pockets. His first season we spent more than we received, it's only the Downes transfer that has us looking positive. We're closer to the middle of the pack than we are the exceptional outliers. Stoke have had a net profit of £25-30m in two years compared to our £5-10m (all numbers from transfermarkt so take with a pinch of salt, obviously). Even Cardiff are only a couple of million behind us for net transfer profit and they rarely sell anyone for good money.

Objectively speaking we're a fairly average Championship side when it comes to player trading. You have to be pretty blinkered to imagine that worrying about our top scorer leaving is something unique to Swansea City. The club gets no credit for pricing him out of a move last summer, of course.

Indeed it has Dar, it's a rollercoaster, always has been, always will be, it's why we love it.😉👍

We’ve had a good run which we’ve seen before. Odds are we’ll have a poor run to follow which we’ve seen before.

I would get rid but with my heart in my mouth because I don’t trust Winter and the powers that be to make a decision about his successor that makes us better.

Thanks for the figures.
I didn't realise how much Stoke had reined in their spending recently.
Looking at transfermarkt it seems that the Obafemi transfer has not been updated so that'll probably alter the charts a little!
Also, Cardiff were under a transfer embargo for part of this time, and transfermarkt doesn't include the fee paid for Callum Robinson, thought to be about 1.5m.
So in reality they are probably around 8-9m short of our numbers.

If we could bottle the performances since our win over Bristol city, to now, you’d have to say confidence in Martin would be maybe higher, however he’s shown to be a fractious character, has slated fans and owners, and even thrown players under the bus, my issue has been like most I think, in not so much the results themselves, but the possession based bore fest with zero end product most of the season, and his endless beam even in defeat as we had 99% of the ball but only conceded on the one % and opposition one shot on target, I don’t like having manager after manager, and we need stability, but I am really conflicted over who may replace Martin, is he actually turning it around? I’m now at a 50-50 junction, where as before I was firmly in the get rid camp, as in fairness the mediocrity served up prior to Bristol was dreadful, but we’ve had exciting games from then and many goals with the exception of Coventry, which was actually ok in parts for a 0-0, I guess I’m saying the splinters on my arse are digging in and I’m waffling 😂

I can't see us getting a result today, it will be manna from heaven for some (a lot) on here.

Busiest it'll have been for a while is my guess.

Personally I hope we win today and I move more towards 'Russell in'.

Not sure how some who don't like the dissatisfaction with Martin coped back when we were pissing League 1 under Martinez or pushing for promotion from the Championship with Rodgers. We still had a proportion of unhappy fans even then, so hardly surprising there's more upset fans under a manager who has delivered a 15th place finish and a run of 3 wins in 21 games.

We want Martin IN, said we want Martin In.

Russell Martins black 'n white army!

Get that contract sorted. Asap

Today was good enough that he's earned the right to see out his contract for me.

If we can find some extra pennies down the back of the sofa this summer, I'd rather the club see if they can up their contract offer to Manning.

We want Martin IN, said we want Martin In… If he sets us up like this and shows the ability to adapt and play to strengths.

This is all a little bit too late, we’ve wasted an opportunity to have a crack at the play offs with this squad. There’s quite a few who won’t be around next season and it’s a tough ask to match the outgoing talent with new faces. Big job coming up for the recruitment team.
