Duff's Cardiff quote

I can't believe how many people still don't get it.

It doesn't matter if his comments were some sort of mind game designed to relieve pressure (I'm not convinced he's sharp enough for that personally, but for the purposes of this exercise I'll give him the benefit of the doubt)

Even if that generous view of things is true, it is still an utterly dickbrained thing to say.

If we lose up there now, a not-insignificant chunk of our fanbase - already asking questions of his ability - will accuse him of not caring enough. It doesn't matter if you personally don't really care, that is what will happen - it'll be a pile-on.

And you can guarantee that a journo will ask him afterwards "did you underestimate the importance of this fixture?".

I hope, for his sake, we manage to avoid defeat because he is on death row if we lose, and it'll be entirely his own fault. Absolutely ridiculous thing to say. He is clearly clueless at dealing with the media.

Sorry but I think their has been a complete overreaction to this statement

Of course it is, most grown ups can see that and will give a quick roll of their eyes, then concentrate on something more important.

But football fans are a funny old bunch.

We get you don't like him but Jesus Christ save the drama for your mamma. Death row FFS 😂

That's why I asked where he said it because I've not seen him say it.

I'm not sure if there's any footage of it out there but the respected journalist Phil Blanche quoted him as saying it on Twitter. I posted a screenshot of it on another thread. I doubt he'd just make the quote up for shits and giggles. The club would probably ban him. My guess is it was said in a non-recorded post match presser.

Where did he say it? I've watched the 3 minute post match interview and there's no mention of it.

Also why are the club chopping down the full interviews to 3 minutes?

Keith has confirmed that he said it in a section of his post-match interview which apparently was on YouTube but has now been taken down. Whether it was spontaneous or in response to a leading question I can't say (hoping to clarify that).

Interesting to note that the same poster started threads on here and another forum drawing attention to it almost as soon as he said it, one of them entitled 'Career Suicide?' I'm sure it's just a measure of how shocked they were and how they genuinely want Duff to succeed.

Yeah I don't doubt that he did say it I've just not seen him say it but I guess it was quickly erased from the history books.

I was driving back after the game on Saturday and the interview where he said the thing about the Cardiff result was on BBC Wales at about 3.55 during the half time interval in the Cardiff match. I heard Duff say it and thought WTF. The radio anchor man introduced the interview by saying "and he have some very interesting comments from Michael Duff" which prompted me to sit in the car on the drive for 10 minutes and listen to it live.

The clip of the interview on Youtube and the club website doesn't look as if it's been clipped/edited so I think it was from a different interview with a wider range range of journalists.

It's noticeable that this season we don't get a proper post match press conference recorded where the manager sits at the top table taking questions from a range of journalists, like we did with Potter, Cooper and Martin. All we've had this season with Duff post-match is a very nice little one to one with the same guy who I assume (maybe incorrectly) is from the club's media team and does not ask any challenging questions. It's gone risk averse.

And whilst we are talking matters media, I haven't seen or heard Sophie Davis since the Spanish trip and , to my knowledge, we've had no walks through Clyne Gardens with "get to know you" interviews. The media coverage has gone very "basic" and glum. That sort of stuff is probably a bit too fluffy for our manager.

If Keith has confirmed it then it's good enough for me 👍

If we loose against Cardiff it doesn’t matter. It’s only a game. Besides we won the last 4 it’s only fair they win one or two.

It's tone deaf at best. Let's hope he can have some impact over the next 2 weeks
