The missus was listening to a phone in yesterday regarding the increases, some of the stories were heartbreaking, about folk who simply have to choose either heating or eating, it fvcking shocking. He was on national TV lying through his teeth two years ago banging on about Dad being a tool maker and how it feels to be skint and can't afford to pay the bills.

I think his version of skint is completely different to the rest of us.I knew more than a few toolmakers back in the day and none were skint, although it depends on what Starmer thinks skint is, but the ones I worked with always had nice cars nice houses and great holidays.
Same here, Max. Our toolmakers and tradesmen were always at the front of the queue for overtime. Saturday, Sunday, turning 8 into 12 hour shifts, you name it and they would grab it.I knew more than a few toolmakers back in the day and none were skint, although it depends on what Starmer thinks skint is, but the ones I worked with always had nice cars nice houses and great holidays.
Exactly.I think his version of skint is completely different to the rest of us.
I’ve slowed down on overtime, l pulled out on call work, l do a few days on engineers assist line as and when, laptop and phones few days at a time proper boring and tedious, not done it since Christmas though, l could do with a few days at moment though, give my knees and back a break, doh!Same here, Max. Some great stories from back in the day, there was one toolmaker who played rugby for Llanelli and Wales, and he was known to have taken a Saturday overtime shift over playing for Wales. A million miles away from the professional sport of today.
