Top tip: if you can still log on to a supplier that's gone under (I could this morning with Utility Point), take a screenshot or download, if you can, any credit you have there as proof. Interestingly with Utility Point, the headline says £0 credit but within the statement I have £362 credit. Make of that what you will. I received an email from EDF saying they were taking over my supply, but were vague about matching my existing tariff.
ps it's a good idea to take meter readings too.
I was thinking about that earlier. Most DD payers will be well in credit this time of year as that’s the point of monthly level payment. Bandits will look to cream it all under insolvency to pay preferential creditors. I’m £200 over with octopus I think I’ll refund myself, hold on to it and then take the hit again later. My dad always used to fix as long as possible even if it cost a bit more and me nagging him to save a fair few quid “planning, boy, certainty, worth a few quid that”. Luckily I did fix to April 22, but it was luck as it was very close to the best variable deal, and it only stays lucky if the supplier stays in business.
I feel so sorry for people when all this bites, along with all Johnno’s chickens and empty promises and rhetoric coming home to roost. It’s all in the post, unfortunately. I can’t see the circle turning again in my lifetime really. Everything is about racing to the bottom, looking after rich toffs and mega rich arseholes (yes that’s you Bezos, Branson…please do f**k off to space) and lying about it.
Anyway, energy. I hope you get out intact Jinxy.
