• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Fisher

I’ve been prepared to give him time, not good enough I’m afraid.

Can't believe we've spaffed 400 grand on the drip, add that to the fact that someone at the club give Smith a contract and that's gross misconduct at least

I feel that he is a stopgap between the present and the future where Benda grows into the sweeper keeper role.
As I said earlier Benda right now is superior across the board except for calmness in possession.
A season as number 2 behind Fisher next season will do him wonders.

I can see what RM sees in Fisher, his decision making is sometimes questionable but his distribution often makes a big difference.
In my eyes I rate Benda as a better passer than Fisher but needs to learn when he has possession of the ball.
I also see Benda as a better shot stopper than both Fisher and Hamer.
Hamer feels like the middle of the road between all three keepers.

Overall I think Benda has the highest potential and could really do with a season now as our reserve keeper to learn from RM and Fisher about his decision making with the ball at his feet (specially when to make the pass and when to play it safe and just get rid).

Benda all the way.

Re the comments about distribution, I thought he was pretty good today in this regard.

I don’t know what to make of the pen as it was down the other end of pitch and I’ve not seen a replay.
Haven't seen a replay, but it was just opposite where we were, and I still dont know why it was a pen.🤷‍♂️

How was their keeper not sent off ?

Quite an achievement by the ref today, missed two penalties and a sending off

I thought the ref gave us a good rub of the green after his earlier misdemeanours. I don’t think their keeper issue was worthy of a red card.

Very poor keeper in my view, been way below average since his first game. Our worst player and biggest liability. I’ll admit I think Benda could develop into a good keeper, and we’ve wasted a shedload of unnecessary cash. He’ll need to develop massively to make it. I think we need a new coach too as he hasn’t developed a jot so far.

You think it was worthy of a red?

I’ve only seen it live so will take a look at the highlights.

Absolutely no doubt that it denied a clear goal scoring opportunity.

I’ve just watched the highlights and I’m still not convinced. Pato went down a little too easily for my liking and the ref may well have thought the same and considered it as two bodies challenging for the same piece of ground.

The crowd reaction was clear, red card all day long. It didn’t look like the players were as vociferous.

Thankfully it didn’t matter in the end.

The guy leaned into Paterson with his arm. He knew exactly what he was doing by trying to block him off. Pato went down too easy, but it was still clear obstruction/last man.

In one of the videos that the OS puts up now and again it features the goalie coach, who says in it somewhere that they wanted Fisher for his calmness, which I get. He never exactly looks panicked, he just doesn't look particularly good at distribution.

Put me firmly in the "we should have given Benda more time" camp.

100%. Benda appears to have that madness in him that makes top keepers special. He could turn out to be one that got away if we don’t persevere with him.
