• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Russell Martin watched Olivier Ntcham score his first goal at home this afternoon to complete a comprehensive first half for the Swans and signalled out the midfielder for praise after the game stating very clearly “he is going to be special” Ntcham capped an excellent first half Swansea display...

Seemed a bit restricted today. Whether that's because he knew he had to be positionally disciplined as Paterson was drifting between the lines or for some other reason, he wasn't as "barnstorming" as he has the potential to be.

Played well though. Lots of intelligent passing and a well taken goal. Good to see him get off the mark at home.

Strange to say that as a centre midfielder he gets people on the edge of their seats and sometimes he doesn't do anything, but you just get that feeling with him that he can go up through many more gears if necessary.

Piroe, Ntcham, Downes, Laird all fantastic recruitment and Premier League players next season and beyond. The recruitment we have in play now is light year's ahead of what we saw before, without factoring in Obafemi who could be lethal in this division and of course Paterson

Absolutely. I don't think we've seen 70% of what Ntcham is capable of yet.

Obafemi impressed me today too. Very direct. Keen to get on goal and get a shot off. Reminded me a bit of Jason Scotland in that respect. The little 1-2 he played with (i think it was) Smith before having a shot well saved by Cornell was excellent sexy football.

Yeah agreed. Smith I've always liked too and he's making the Downes role look easy.

I looked at Obafemi when he had the shot saved over the bar and the way he moved reminded me of a shorter, quicker JS9. Think he will be the natural heir when Piroe does leave, if we don't go up.

I don't think people realise how much potential this season has got despite the calls of unsettlement early on from the usual. Who are, surprise surprise, nowhere to be seen this evening.

Smith's never been an AM. He's suffered a bit from being utilised in a role that doesn't suit him. Look at Conor Gallagher as another example. A central midfielder played further forward by Cooper and struggled there. Been outstanding for Palace in his natural role.

Tend to agree that we'll see more of Obafemi if/when we lose Piroe. At the moment it's hard to see us shifting formation to accommodate two forwards, although if Paterson loses a bit of form I'd be keen to see Piroe play a bit deeper instead. The perfect pass to Ntcham shows he's got the skills to do it.

We're not quite a playoff side yet. Think we need one or two additions in key areas first, but if we're there or thereabouts in January then who knows?

The last three home games have shown what a good footballing side with an end product we have become.
Sorry I don't buy this "not quite ready" business
We have a good squad with lots of covering players.
We need to build on this recent home form and progress.
I see no reason we cannot better last season's play offs failure at the final

If we get into the play offs then I’ll be far more confident than the last 2 seasons.

No team is going to fancy playing us.

Why can’t we get in playoffs we’re 4 points off
after a poor start. We’ve got a much better side than last year. And also I feel we can beat any side. I went to wembley knowing we wouldn’t win in my heart but just hoping. Now if we got there I’d feel confident against anyone

My thoughts exactly EG.
When we played Fulham, it was still too early in our change of style, to gauge how our season would pan out.
Since then confidence has grown with our improved fitness, regularity of scoring goals and subsequent wins.
Perhaps a better comparison of this season's potential, will be how effective we are, when we play Bournemouth next Saturday?

I think we can have a stab at a playoff push if we recruit correctly in the January window. In my eyes we have three priority spots to recruit for:

1. An attacking left wingback in a similar style to Laird, while I like Jake and he will always give you an honest day's work our left flank just doesn't carry the same threat that our right side does
2. One more attacking midfielder to push Paterson and Ntcham as well as to help manage the workload that will come with a Championship season
3. A footballing sweeper/defender to cover the work that Naughton does for us in the centre of defence. We have seen that we are struggling in that department when we suffer some injuries at the back.

If we get that business done and manage to tie down Piroe to a two year extension on his current contract then that would in my opinion be a perfect January window.
