Four at the back

Yeah. Or he could play very decent centre backs as, you know, centre backs. Otherwise he might just be a twat, eh?

Have we got multiple decent centre backs?

I think so. Perm 2 out of three and Naughton, or even B Cooper in a back four.

As a three they are all shit except Naughts and he’s too slow now.

Let’s give Michael a chance of playing his preferred system with his preferred players.

Hamstrung with shoddy L1 CBs in a 3.

In no way should we be judging a MD team handicapped with RM baggage.

Give the man the chance to wash away the Martin sludge. Ffs.

People made the same excuses for performances under Martin. "Just wait until we've bought him a whole new team to his liking, then judge him".

Two competitive games is silly though, in judging terms. Not that I’m saying you are.

I have high hopes for Wood. Right now I’m not sure that Cabango and Darling can play above League One. Cooper is relatively untested and Naughton has his best days disappearing into the distance. We therefore need the Chelsea loan to come good.

Re Cabango and Darling, the key question is whether five at the back is making them look worse than what they actually are?

I think the evidence of last season supports that view strongly.

Jasp, as one of the 3rd/4th most insightful posters on these forums you ought to think a tad deeper on this.

Not an issue, I can see Cooper going out on loan and possibly see one of Cabango or Wood going.
Even if Cabango or Wood don't go them we have 4 centre halves.

Allows us to push Naughton back to cover full back.
Speaking of Wood noticed he didn’t get on the players coach after the game, he was walking around with I assume his missus somewhere with his bag.

Will we see four at the back next time out?

He’s happily back in SA1👍

Three at the back leaves us wide open on the counter. I didn't like it under Russy, I don't like it under Duff. Four defenders and one deep midfielder should be the bare minimum and still leaves plenty of personnel available for attacking.

C’mon mun, get yourself out of your little Forest up there in them hills and see the Wood for them trees. Think clearly.

Our MD deserves a shot of playing it his way, with his preferred players.

Martin got 2 years.
Our MD gets 2 mins.
Wtf ?

Totally agree, way too early to pile in on him yet. Deserves until at least end of October.

Will say one thing though. He does appear to have a big problem with his predecessor. Right from his very first press conference, through pre season, and now again today with his "passing for passing's sake" dig, he couldn't make it clearer the contempt in which he holds Martin and his preferred style of play.

I think Duff would do well to just get on with the job at hand, than remaining preoccupied with what the last bloke was doing. He's the one in charge now. Just crack on and get on with it.

No that wasn’t me.

Yes, it was.

You clearly have a ‘vienneta’ against posters who are far far brighter, far more informed, and far more eloquent than you.

You need to take a moment. And do the right thing, Andy.

Your handling of Risc-Gate was beyond shambolic.

I didn’t ban back of the net. And Andy is not my name.
