I do agree that Sheehan got his team lineup and tactics wrong for Boro, especially the second half after nullifying them for the first you could see they were there for the taking.
Was surprised to see the front 3 against Lorient as 2 No 10's Galbraith & Cullen with a right winger. Galbraiths a midfielder not a 10. Then Sheehan repeats it at Boro.

It meant EOM was totally ineffective because he had to drop back to be the left side of the midfield 3. Totally unbalanced team and playing 2 square pegs in round holes. EOM as LM and Ethan as a 10.

Hopefully that performance last night straightens things out

I can only rationalize the Lorient game by being a case of just giving minutes on the pitch to players to try to get them fit sooner for the Boro game than a discernable game plan. That would have held true if players were put into their correct positions at the Boro game itself but again Galbraith was deployed as the attacking midfield with a Fulton/Franco double pivot in midfield

As you said though hopefully with Inoussa, Eom, Franco, Galbraith all getting good minutes yesterday we will start to see players being deployed in their more natural positions. I would expect the Brighton kid to be on the bench for Saturday unless he is absolute fire in training

The single thing I loved the most about Galbraith’s performance was the tempo. I thought those days had gone with us losing Leon and Joey.
The speed with which he was able to get the ball under control, survey his options and make a pass was a joy to watch.
Also, a joy was his choice of pass. He always looked to take the most positive option, but when pressed he made sure to look after the ball.
Also noticeable was that the kid was perpetual motion, and always available to receive the ball. Contrast that with another central midfielder on our books, who is a pass backwards and watch merchant.
We absolutely have a player on our hands.
Fair play to the recruitment team, this player is absolute bank for us down the road. He justifies our new recruitment structure on his own!!
