It was 10 years ago tomorrow that we heard that Gary had died. The atmosphere at the stadium was surreal, the game just passed with none of the player’s heads in it at all. I still remember the day.
I was in Cardiff doing some shopping with a friend, we were sitting down having lunch in the Great Western pub when it came up on the TVs

Coleman had a nigh on impossible job taking over from Speed but he did an excellent job as we all know.

Who knows whether that should have gone ahead. We wanted to play it, so I suppose you go with that and assume that the players who knew him well were on board with the decision. But it was such a surreal and pointless match. And not just for us either - I remember Shay Given being in absolute bits as we held the silence and applause.

I was walking on the costal path between Burry Port and Llanelli and I could see Pwll football club and whoever they were playing observing a minute's silence and applause.
Very moving.

Very touching tribute and reflection on football focus (probably the twitter post above). Poor Gary looked quite tense the day before he died. So sad he felt there was no other option.
