Genuine Pace

I didnt see yesterday's game but did we do this?
More but probably not enough, Ronald was making the runs most of the game but we weren't picking it out. When we did it created genuine chances though

We have to change our mentality on this. Play to his strengths and I'm sure we will reap the benefits - it may take time but it's needed for the midfield (and defenders) to realise that we have pace and pace can find space.

It’s called playing to your strengths. Managers like Pulis and Warnock know their limitations but their sides are well organised and play just that way - to the team’s strengths.
Every young up and coming manager needs to realise this - when they’ve mastered the art of winning games and keeping tight defences they can then start adding here and there to achieve the style they want. If they don’t they will fail and be out of football - it’s a results driven business and it’s more cutthroat now than ever .

I’m not saying go full long ball but play your football in the right areas and utilize your fast and skilful wingers.

Naughton was probably the biggest supplier of balls in behind the fullback for Ronald to attack. It worked really well first half. Second half we started going long to him more, which didn’t work.

About 20 mins in during the first half Ronald gave it both barrels to Cabango for not releasing the ball early when he was 1v1 with the full back and not putting it over the top or sliding it through past the defenders when the easy ball was definitely on.

After that Cabango and Naughton was doing it right up until Ronald started to tire about 70 mins or so in. It shows the importance of having such a threat on both flanks so that the wingers can take turns being a threat and conserve stamina to continue making those runs right up to the 90th minute.
