Are you trying to say a Welshman who doesn’t speak Welsh is any less of another who does? That’s not how this will work, a Welsh person is a Welsh person irrespective of their language.

The U.K. is doomed in its current form. It can’t and won’t continue as it is. It’s an anachronism and becomes more of one with every passing devolved election. An independent Wales and Scotland as part of a loosely federal U.K. and a member of the EU. It’ll take another generation or so probably because too many Welsh people of our generation and the one before it hate being Welsh (not a reference to anyone here) but it will happen. The generation after us or the one after that will make sure of it.

No it’s not. The Welsh language should be fundamental for me. But yeah that’s my opinion.

Core Welsh identity is completely linked to the language. The “oppressed” spiel is often linked to history and the suppression for example.

Well I’m with you on the whole daffodil hat thing but that’s a very different point to your original “not proper Welsh if you don’t speak the language” one.
