• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

Looking forward to Crowded House on Monday.

We are supposed to be going to that, not sure we’ll make it yet though.
We had tickets to see Jimmy Page last week and they went in the f*cking bin.

When i read the headline in this tweet, i thought he was going to get his old boy out and do the proper helicopter then

Listened to a good podcast with the lead shouter of skindred the other day, quite good apart from the bloke interviewing him has a really thick cardiff accent.

Saw these play the Black Lion in Aberdare yonks ago. Finished my pint and fucked off after 2 songs.

I fancy going to Download next year. I’m 51 next week so what else is an old man gonna do.

Pack walking shoes. I'm fucked.

Megadeth were awesome but Maiden got off to a very slow start - awful choice of setlist to begin, but were their usual epic selves by the end of the set

Off-topic but it's time smokers were further ostracised. I don't care that it's outside - nobody should have to spend 10 hours shoulder to shoulder, breathing in that shit. I honestly don't think I could be so selfish personally

Back from The Killers in Manchester with Blossom supporting them. What a great concert even though I didn't know many songs. The crowd were epic. Brandon Flowers (great front man) stopped half way through a song because an old man was dropped while crowd surfing. Anyway, you'll be eased to know that Billy was alright, apart from a bleeding head.

Don't suppose this will be of much interest to most on here, but here's my post on the Maiden forums. Death threats incoming

Not gonna lie, I really disliked the start to the show. I had avoided the setlist spoilers so I went in not knowing what to expect. IMO Senjutsu works on the album but it’s an awful opener to a live show. It’s so offbeat and plodding. Rock in Rio with the Wickerman is the gold standard for me

I think it would work better if an abridged version of Senjutsu is played over the speakers, then the band burst out to the start of Stratego. Although dispersing the Senjutsu material through out the set would work even better, but i guess that spoils the realm theme which just felt tacked on to me (and bringing out Eddie on the first song!? It feels better when the treats are built up)

On top of the song choices, the turnover time whilst removing the Senjutsu stageset was ridiculous and killed the atmosphere even further. Bruce’s ‘bare with us whilst we move house’ comment made me chuckle though

This wasn’t Hammersmith Odeon in front of 4,000 fan club members - Senjutsu, Stratego, TWotW, Revelations, Blood Brothers and Sign of the Cross is not a good way to start a live show in front of tens of thousands of neutrals. I mean I love these songs - but in that order? Right at the start of the set? Not for me

THAT SAID, normal service was resumed with the rest of the set and the show build up to an epic crescendo. The band sounded great

I would be interested to hear what non-Maiden fans thought of the performance - some people around me seemed pretty disengaged and dare I say bored 6 songs in

I suspect I may upset some people but that’s not my intention. Just my honest feelings

I wasn’t there but having looked at the set list, I agree with you Blaze. At a festival, you want to come out punching with classics. Aces High will always be my favourite Maiden show starter, and as they played it in the set, it seems strange they didn’t open with it. (Moonchild is a cracking opener too, which they did at Donington in 88 when I last saw them there.)
Thought they got it the setlist right with the tour in 2018 when they were (still) doing the Legacy of the Beast tour. I understand them throwing in some new ones, but opening with those 3 seems odd.

My pal Johnnie Walker just mentioned this gig 46 years ago today Sounds of the 70s.

Sure there is a saying somewhere , " I was There " , applies regarding this occasion .
