Phil says a lot without giving anything of substance. Can you divulge some details of the discussion?
I probably won’t do a good job in capturing them but we pretty much covered every topic

- Poor Communication
- Transfer Window failing
- Role of new D of F
- poor standard of football being played
- state of the pitch
- credentials of Coleman to be where he is
- Coleman’s salary
- Ken Gude role
- increasing revenues
- Williams behaviour in WBA situation
- Williams comments in post window press conference
- Grimes leaving
- Cabango and darling
- New owners plan and visibility
- Clubs financial position
- Paul Watson
- Russel Martin situation

Loads more too, but these were the things that I can recall right now 😂

Fans being invited in for a “chat” is nothing new, or unique to Swansea City.
No, I agree with that. They’ve always said the door was open in fairness. Personally I was surprised by how willing they were and how much time and effort they were willing to invest in doing so.

This was over 3 hours on a matchday

What is your feeling after the chat?

Wasn’t having a dig at you Ian, apologies if it came across that way.

Indeed, Leigh Dineen invited me down to the Liberty for a chat over a coffee back in the day, I politely declined.
Yeah it was him I was thinking about in most recent times. Think he was a fan of speed dating 🤣

The proof will always be in the pudding mate.

But people will undervalue the importance of having people who genuinely care and are engaged. That in itself is a huge difference between these guys and Kaplan and Levien.

We have to remember that the new ownership have only had control since end of November, they have a new D of F who was agreed well before the window but couldn’t get him here until it closed. There is also talk that a new COO is coming in to ( although that wasn’t said by then).

They seem incredibly confident in the player sourcing model they have but admit there is weakness in closing the deals and that will be the role of Montague.

I think we will see big change in how they communicate, as they admitted to us that they have not done this well and we gave them a whole raft of ideas on how to change that.

I have had 3 follow up things from Coleman since the meeting, asking for more info/input in some stuff. So it doesn’t seem like lip service

The key will be can they get the football side right, time will tell, but it ain’t going to fix this season I’m afraid.

👍

It's all good to hear. Proof will certainly be in the pudding.

Personally, I think I have heard so much that this and that will happen but am not seeing anything happen from those words.

As it stands, if we can stay in this league then I'm hoping to see a real shift with a more planned and proactive approach in the summer with another major change with the squad. I love more in hope though.

Thanks Ian. Nice context. I hope -we all hope - their confidence in their 'player sourcing model' is justified and involves someone who can spot a good footballer actually watching him play! I might have mentioned this once in passing a while ago, but they also need rid of Williams; he's gash.

I am hoping that they will be planning for both scenarios.

What has happened over the last couple of months is taking its toll. I know of lifelong fans who say they have given up and stopped going because "it doesn't feel like their club anymore".

Maybe it is just the people I know but if it is a good example of the wider fanbase there are problems ahead. I don't think it is a good example, however, because most of the guys I know who are/were big Swans fans are over 50 and share my dislike of anything Matty G.

If they carry on with this idea of ‘football’ there’ll be nobody there. The old joke is now true…it’s more entertaining to watch on flash score.
